Impressive appointment given our predicament. I'm really pleased he's joined us. And, well done to the Meadow hierarchy to make it happen. Good luck Gareth.

Obviously a great appointment which will give us some hope in the long term. As for the short term (i.e. this season) as we only have 8 points from 15 games (and probably around 46 points is the absolute minimum needed to have some chance of staying up) then we need to be looking at 38 points minimum from the remaining 31 games which would be top half form. With this group of players (whoever is coaching them) and presumably with limited improvements possible in the transfer window that looks a very big ask. It may well be that the rebuilding process will have to start in League 2 but looking at how well the teams promoted from League 2 last season have done so far this season that should not be an insurmountable obstacle to getting re-established in League 1. The crucial point is that Ainsworth is given the TIME to rebuild the club and lets hope that, if we are going down this season, we do so with the players fitter and better organised and showing more pride in their performances than we have seen so far this season.

Do you think any potential new buyers have spoken to him? Because the current predicament you wonder why he’s joined us. He must know something we don’t
