Surely the lorry driver must of had a “ medical incident “ of some description. What a bloody mess . On the way to Church Stretton late morning had to detour by way of Pulley Lane through Bayston Hill onto Lyth Hill Road , up and over Lyth Hill and on to the A49. Glad to hear the lorry driver is o k . Feel very sorry for the owners of both properties. The pub had recently been purchased by an independent brewery .

Original Star report said the driver had broken his leg. Was this one of those driver falls asleep incidents.

News of sale of pub last Friday in star Had it been a fire some might have been suspicious.... Ramming a Lorry into it seems a bit far fetched? I amazed with how much at the back of the pub has been taken out that the whole side 90 Degs to the road hasn't collapsed!

I amazed with how much at the back of the pub has been taken out that the whole side 90 Degs to the road hasn't collapsed! I'm pretty sure there's a lot of supports in place to hold it together. I can't see how either building stays up without ending up being demolished and rebuilt.

News of sale of pub last Friday in star I wonder if the new owners got round to taking out building insurance ? Hopefully but not really necessary, claims against the lorry driver. (Guess insurance agains no insurance) The problem is the insurance company will deal with the owners and a nice cash settlement in return for taking over the site and selling it’s likely. Think it was only £275k (if this is recent?) to buy the whole place would cost 4 time that to rebuild…. www.wtscommercial.co.uk/property/details/192/Three-Fishes-Inn-Hereford-Road-Bayston-Hill-Shrewsbury-Shropshire-SY3-0DB-Public-House-I see they were planning minor alterations in 2025, they’ve made an early start “ This cherished pub will continue to serve the local community under our stewardship, with minor renovations scheduled for early 2025 to enhance the space while honouring its character.”

I suspect that both properties will be demolished and replaced by housing 🤔

I used to live at The Fox Inn from 1950-1953/54 . Sorry to see it demolished but that’s life . I feel really sorry for the owners of the house attached to the Chinese Takeaway . It is their business and they are reported to have stated that they have lost everything . That must be a gut wrenching realisation that everything they have worked for has been destroyed. Residents of Bayston Hill have long complained about the traffic travelling through the village , particularly heavy vehicles . Can’t see any alternative route as there surely cannot be any way to direct traffic around the village . A power line was also brought down by a vehicle using Pulley Lane on the same day. Not to worry, it won’t be long before Bayston Hill becomes the fag end of Meole Estate and then the planners can turn their collective minds to solving this traffic problem 😉😂😂😂😳

Not saying it’s not very upsetting but they really shouldn’t have a problem though I see a funding page has been set up?? Regarding the Fox I’m trying to remember why it was knocked down? I remember the Courts who ran the Masonic bought it and the younger brother (not Grant) ran it but why did it close? Worth more for housing?

My grandparents kept The Fox for some years .We lived with them for a while .Mind you Bayston Hill was a “ village “ then , nowhere near the size it is now . The Compasses , Three Fishes and The Fox competing for trade within 100 yards of each other . Yes, I think it was demolished and the land used for housing , mainly starter homes I think. There appears to be quite a few homes built on the site . Bayston Hill will inevitably grow to join up with the Dobies site . There are also plans to build houses up Lythwood Road much to the annoyance of local residents many of whom feel a deal has already been struck with the developers !
