Hindsight is a wonderful thing but other than the fact we have a small budget what do you put our current position down to?
What do we need to be looking to improve if we are to survive this season?
For me bringing in so many CMs when we was clearly lacking in quality defenders and a striker capable of taking a decent chance has led to this situation.
Worrying about the opposition too much which dictated our starting line up, formation and tactics resulting in never developing a style or cohesion.
The terrible use of subs during games.
Obviously bringing in Pierre and Nsiala but they were a punt that so far has not paid off.
Struggling to get the best out of our creative players.
Building a squad of wingers to then play without wingers was just baffling.

Right back and centre back recruitment the biggest mistake and the primary reason of many that were so crap. I also wouldn’t have offered either Benning or Nurse a deal, would’ve kept one and got another left back.
Wouldn’t have signed Marquis, those sort of signings rarely work for us.

Benning has been disappointing this season in comparison to last but I think the vast majority were glad when he signed a new contract, I was pleased, and I think his form is better than it was earlier in the season, let see how he fairs under a new guy, same for all the players, especially those loanees who seemed to all be unhappy

bringing the old boys back, tacticaly very poor. not finding the best formation team. making comments in the press about players was just stupid.

For me new manager needs to find a starting eleven and allow them to get to play regular football.
Savin New RB Feeney Feeney Nurse Sagoe Castledine Winchester Shipley Bloxham Marquis
Or rotations of above into a 3-5-2.

Building a squad of wingers to then play without wingers was just baffling. Agree with a lot of that. Recruitment was shocking and I assumed the whole point of having a DoF was to mostly get it right. If anything since we’ve had one, it’s got worse. I disagree about Marquis. We were god awful at Salford, he still got a goal. Provide the service to him and he’ll get 10-15+ in this division. Benning signed because he’s cheap. He’s not good enough as a FB…..Nurse is a player but is hampered by being in a poor team and lacking some confidence. The new signings at the end of the window scream low budget….Ojo, Gilliead. Not good enough at the top of L2 let alone L1. Don’t even start me on the defence. Arguably the two Feeneys are perhaps good enough, def Josh. Pierre and Nsiala ….i have no words!!! The deficiencies of our side have led to us over analysing the opposition. I very much doubt Birmingham will spend much more than a fleeting look at us before they visit soon. How many windows have MM now with recruitment out of interest, I was thinking 3 would be a good judge, how many is it now?

Of course you can argue the reasons for it but undoubtedly where we are is because of the poor recruitment in the summer. We signed 15 players, how many of them would be classed as successful? Castledine? Savin?
Lloyd Nisala Biggins Savin Hoole Marquis Young Rossiter Gilliead O'Reily Kayode Feeney Sagoe Jnr Castledine Ojo

Here’s what I wrote in April this year. Hurst has obviously taken the fall for the teams failings, but I 100% stick by my comment below:

Whoever stays or goes, please do not let Mickey Moore anywhere near the recruitment process.
Of the two clubs he has been involved with, one was relegated and the other narrowly avoided it. The squad he has assembled has been woefully inadequate.

What I didn’t expect was for him to try and play this **** poor style of play that the last god knows how many managers have adopted (whether through choice or otherwise). However, Moore is the DoF and has ultimately got control over style of play and players recruited for said style. And over the last season and a bit since he was appointed, both have been woeful. If, as suggested, his role has been frozen to allow Hurst full control, then his position is completely undermined anyway. Either way, he is not a scapegoat for me, just not proven to be very good at his job.

I think the hurst/moore situation went from a non starter to having our cake and eating it, I can just picture the scene from Dirty Harry where the guy says, "I gots to know" , well that was our Chairman & half the fans wanting Hurst returning, well a least we we all found out, albeit the hard way, it was more of a slide than a rollercoaster but hey ho, lets move onto the next chapter even if we are peeping through our fingers and what it might bring ;-)

Perhaps it was clinging on to the last ‘feel good factor’ we have had at the club (Hurst part 1) that was the rationale for wanting him back? A glimmer of hope that he may be able to click with the club as he did first time around (even though his record in the interim had been questionable).
What I thought he might do was stick to his original playing style and principles that made us so hard to beat in 2018. Not so. The tactics and formation were worlds apart from his first spell.
I haven’t a clue where we go from here??
The club is in complete disarray at the moment. We have got complete uncertainty on every level - owner(s), finance, playing style, management, investment, relegation,
The only consistent aspect is the inconsistency!!

Such a contrast to the key roles played by Godfrey, Henderson and Morris. I still hope we may see Castledine, O’Reilly and Sagoe jnr make an impact as they appeared to be exciting prospects back in August. The older acquisitions have a definite bargain basement look about them.
