Wow. Surprising, and probably the wrong decision for me.

Fair play to Roland, some would have been happy to drift to league two to avoid paying him off.

Wasn’t quite expecting news so quickly and thought Hurst might be given the chance to lead us into the Burton game
Interesting points from the press release
- reappointing Hurst was very much the Chairman’s decision (which differs from the narrative at the time) - the club is now looking for a first team coach. So back to the Taylor/Moore model of last season rather than a return to an out and out manager role

To be honest Im a bit surprised as I thought he would get until the Burton game this weekend and then if we lost that he would have gone but I suppose they are thinking new manager bounce for the most important game of the season

Taylor and now Hurst getting the boot from the club on a Sunday.
Harsh but inevitable.
Once upon a time the sacking of a manager would create some excitement with the hope of a new dawn but I fear that won't be the case this time.
Just another Groundhog Day.

Respect to the Chairman for fessing up and accepting responsibility where it belonged .

It certainly has not worked out for him and Doig sadly Another poor appointment I would prefer Moore to go too I am not sure this will take much pressure of the Chairman ,It is a little too late for that ,and lets hope he gets an appointment right this time and that it is his last one

As soon as the fans start chanting for the chairman to go, it’s not usually long before the manager gets the bullet!!
Another appointment that hasn’t worked out and another chunk of money we can’t afford?!

I never wanted him back, in fact it was the last thing I wanted after he left the way he did and then came back and took our two best players days before the end of the transfer window.
With that said I respect his commitment whilst he has been here. He clearly cared about the role and tried his best. He has been the victim of our finances and I feel bad for him that he has got another sacking on his CV when he always had to perform miracles.
I stand by what I said before, no manager better than Hurst will want to come near us when its most likely we are going to go down without any funds.
I hope I am wrong and we have not just wasted money getting rid of Hurst for the same result.

My bet is they did have performance targets in the contract..... After all, we were giving a down and out manager a league chance, sadly for him and us, he's still down and out.

Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t change it. Someone may get a better tune out of the players than Hurst

Probably doesn’t fit the first team coach role, but long time Accrington boss John Coleman available after leaving them recently
Might be the sort of back to basics approached needed now and know the lower leagues very well. Might even attract Sean Whalley as his assistant

A win rate of just over 10% for the 19 games we have played is not acceptable. Although I was not sure about Hurst coming back, I had been willing to hope that it would work out for him, sadly it has not. They do say it is not a good idea to return to a former club. I hope that the players are proud of themselves, as going on yesterdays performance they have not helped Hurst's cause. That said, it was his team that he had put together and it was up to him and Chris Doig to motivate the players. Listening to Hurst's interview on BBC Radio Shropshire with Stuart Dunn, I felt there was a divide between him and the players. Who would be a manager/coach! It will be interesting to see who takes charge on Saturday.

When the coach loses the dressing room it’s time to go.

We just hope that the new manager bounce lasts long enough for us to scape together some points.

I would like to add that although Paul Hurst did not handle himself well when leaving us first time around, he should be remembered by Salop fans as the manager who gave us some hope that season he was here first time around. We all make mistakes in life, Hurst made a massive one when he jumped ship and joined Ipswich, but I think he learned from that and although he was not my first choice to replace Taylor last year, I think he did his up most to improve things at Shrewsbury. It is never nice to see any one sacked, I was once and it took a while to get in out of my system, hopefully Hurst will return to football in the near future.

He was managing in the championship not long ago, why on earth would he want to join a club who will be paying little, with a weak squad, and no future strategy given that we're just waiting for a sale? If Cowan was appointed, I think I'd be done with the club.
