I see Real Madrid threw their toys out of the pram and no-one from the club attended the ceremony (despite them winning Club and Manager of the Year awards) presumably because they somehow found out that Rodri had won the individual award rather than Vinicius Jr. Two great players there and both would be worthy winners but perhaps Rodri's involvement with Spain as well as his club exploits tilted the balance in his favour. Anyway its nice to see a midfielder winning it again (last one was Modric) and of course also nice to see the era of Messi or Ronaldo (13 between them) ended.
