It's FA Cup 1st round day for our ladies team on Sunday against Northampton. 2pm KO on the main Croud Meadow pitch. Let's hope for an FA Cup double winning weekend .

It is still a huge competition with big prize money available. They`ve won about £9000 so far and could be another 6 if they win another. Hopefully that is reinvested back into women`s and girls football at the club.

3.1 to town. Excellent performance against a higher league team. Look forward to another home draw and more goals at the Meadow

i was trying to get my head round at what level Shrewsbury town womens team have reached as they play in West Midlands Regional Women's Football League. i find all the regional divisions rather confusing in trying to work out how good they are. iv been to the odd game and town seem to have made good progress .

Likewise Zen. Sheffield I've been told are WSL div 1 but I have no idea how far above Our ladies team that is

Due to be played the day after the Birmingham game. Enough interest I would have thought for another game on the main pitch. The next TNS game however is due to be played on the Thursday and a few days preparation will be required for that game. Shame if the girls miss out for such a big game.

Likewise Zen. Sheffield I've been told are WSL div 1 but I have no idea how far above Our ladies team that is As I understand it they are at the same level in the pyramid (Tier 5), it is just divided into regions. Shrewsbury have made great progress up the leagues and are now one division below the National League Division 1. I know Women's Football will always have to put up with those people who just write it off, that is their loss. It is very entertaining, with some highly skilled players even at the lower levels.

I`ve watched Sheffield FC pretty much since I moved here and I`ve watched women`s team too since my first daughter started to be able to watch about 12 years ago!
We were at the Sheffield match on Sunday beating Penrith 2-1 in a tough encounter. Club were in WSL2 but criteria evolved and meant they couldn`t afford to compete. They were playing Villa, Tottenham etc but have dropped 3 levels now. We might even venture down later this month for Round 2. Last season Club won on penalties but I suspect that both teams are stronger now.

Perhaps switch the cup tie to another local ground, somewhere like ..... erm ..... Park Hall?

Thanks for that. So if they get promoted they would then go to one level below the national league one ? Iv always enjoyed women's football, iv been to some enjoyable games, well done to the ladies team for the progress they are making.

FA Cup match switched to Shawbury United ground. Pity but understandable with Croud Meadow having to be prepared for the TNS game on the Thursday.

At Shawbury? Not been to that ground . Any good? It only opened a few months ago… the facilities there are good, has a couple of small stands with a clubhouse, plenty of parking available too… typical non league ground really.

Very good chance for Salop imo. Sheffield Club in a mess after Manager was `mutually consented` out of club despite sorting the team out well and having lost only 1 this season. Interim Manager is a clueless muppet who previously guided the team down the leagues.....

Good luck to the STFC Women. They are definitely on the up.
Just as an aside, the comments posted in this thread are sincere and encouraging, but we really ought to ditch the ‘Ladies’ terminology. They have officially been ‘Women’ for a while now.
