See there is a crane being used to install floodlights in the corners at the Meadow today??
In preparation for the TNS games maybe??

It's the only 'highlights' we will see there this season.

Why on earth do they require extra floodlights? If the current floodlights are inadequate (they look OK to me) then surely they should be permanently replaced. Probably yet another interfering and largely pointless mandate from the Gods on high……UEFA.

The pitch has to be narrowed and all advertising hidden as well so a bit of preparation is needed to please UEFA.

Or are things so bad we couldn't afford to run them? floodlights are not that expensive to run, but probably cost much more to rent , we could ask if town might use them whilst they are here but I guess not, I mean if we break them and all that I actually suffer with my sight in low light conditions, and even just a dull day I can have problems watching football, have moaned about it a few times over the years, not sure what I have must it must have a name im thinking of asking the club to install a WW2 spotlight next to my seat ;-)

Nothing to do with the club setup etc, will be UEFA guidelines which need to be met, same as if we had a concert it would be stipulated by the company putting on the event.

It's interesting that it doesn't affect us for the England internationals but it does for TNS.

It's interesting that it doesn't affect us for the England internationals but it does for TNS. you could argue it affects us more than others, we are missing 2 players, both defenders which leaves us down to the bare bones, with so many games getting called off I think just one player should give a club the opportunity to postpone

I wouldn't have thought they were much different.

I'm with you now I think it's all to do with tv cameras and how much they are paying for the rights , fifa struggle to sell the full women's international sides at the moment as tv companies are willing to pay the asking prices

They look smart better than the cheapo effort on the roofs and obviously a better specification for brightness.

They look smart better than the cheapo effort on the roofs and obviously a better specification for brightness. Car headlights have come a long way in the last ten years or so, presumably floodlights have too, xenon, led, etc? Apart from routine maintenace over the years, our floodlights could benefit from a permanent upgrade? I expect they are more efficient and focused too these days?

I think the ones on the roof were designed to cut down light pollution in surrounding areas (part of the planning conditions);these will light up the whole area and can be seen from space 😂 Seriously I was on Longden Rd Island and they’re visible towering over the area.

Old school pylons are iconic, how many people in the days before google maps would’ve found an away ground by just looking for the lights. The ground looks better with them there.
