only caught the second half, but what I saw 2nd half Greece were by far the better side , their winning goal was a bit like the 2nd brum goal the other night, one side giving 500% attacking a loose ball, the other giving 10%

Fully deserved but will just be a hiccup for England I would think.

Time to remove Coco the clown in the Orange kit. The defence obviously have no confidence in him and he doesn’t!t organise his back line. At least four of that side are not good enough and a few more looked to have no urgency or interest.

Carsley does not know what he is doing. Who in their right mind plays 4 midfielders as front runners. Also the defence was appalling and Pickford should not be in goal. He simply cannot do the job. Carskey is done here.

The competition is the Internationals version of the Pizza cup though isnt it.
Not possible to try and peak more often than every two years surely.

Carsley has had an absolute shocker there with his team selection - he starts off playing a false nine and ends up playing with two centre-forwards! The main problem was playing a back four with two wingbacks who are much happier going forward than defending so we were often defending the transition with Lewis and Alexander-Arnold stranded up the pitch and only two defenders back. Pickford could see that and it made him nervous and error prone all throughout the game. I thought I was watching the Salop defence the way England defended for their two goals but all credit to Greece - they played as a well-structured team and took their chances. It seems to me the England team was set up with the sole purpose of getting Palmer, Bellingham and Foden in the same team - well it backfired badly and we did not show enough respect to Greece by playing too many attackers and paid the price for that.

Performance in the Nations League affects the FIFA world rankings which determine which pot England would be in for the next World Cup so it seems rather foolish to experiment like we did tonight.

If anyone ever wanted an example of why going going with the approach of 'pick your best attacking players, regardless of how they fit', then show them England's performance last night. Whoever the new manager is has a problem but it's a nice problem to have in that he will have to recognise that not all of the attacking talent we have, can be accommodated. Carsley tried something and it clearly didn't work, it would be a shame if that meant his chances of becoming permanent England manager are ended, I'd like to think FA would look wider than just this single performance.
In a strange way I was pleased when Greece got the winner as I thought it was daylight robbery when got the equaliser

Carskey is done here. Whilst I agree he was jittery last night, I've never understood the dislike some fans have for Pickford. He's been the most reliable keeper we've had for many years and I don't see anything better than him at the moment

Trouble is,these new young coaches/managers try to over complicate things with formations/tactics on times......just play the simple 4-4-2 and ****ing get on with it......and MOST players will understand it better!!!👍😳🤨

I hope Carsley doesn't get judged on this one game - he experimented and it failed, hopefully he has learnt from it and we move on!!

I'd agree with that, too many new, young inexperienced players trying to play a false 9 formation that really isn't used by any Premier League side Fair play to Carley,he took the blame. We got what we deserved.. .. nothing

Daft formation.
Inverted full backs and 5 wingers.
Palmer and Saka in the second line of midfield.
Absolutely absurd. Utter nonsense.
Like the cat sat on the controller in Fifa.

Good point. Southgate had his faults but he was smart enough to know that picking the supposedly 11 best players or maxing out on what everyone seems to think is our vast reserve of attacking talent is not what makes for the most effective teams. I didn't watch the match but that team selection was ridiculous. No striker, 5 attacking and 1 holding midfielder - a recipe for chaos. If Carsley thought that was a worthwhile experiment then ok, just about excusable, but it certainly brings his judgment into question. If he did it because he was paying too much attention to supporters and the media he should be told not to be so stupid and thrown back to the Under 21s.

I've been critical of Pickford way back but I don't think there have been too many better than him in the last 3 international tournaments.

The comical thing is, people who say that Carsley and Southgate don't have a clue only suggest playing certain players out of position in a different way to that chosen. 'The manager is a clown,' they cry, but only because the team was unbalanced in a way other than how they would have unbalanced it.
Where there is a positional clash, how about settling on one player and benching the other? At the very least, you've got a fresh pair of legs to come on of similar quality when needed in the second half. Following the Covid era, national coaches even have the luxury of making about twenty-five substitutions per game, so there's plenty of scope for managing minutes (and egos).

I heard Southgate made the England players give all their appearance money to charity. Is that still the case now he's gone? Or is it now the case Englands' players' are playing for money.
