not taken much interest in this but happened to catch the results yesterday & then again today whilst on the way home
so yesterday the favourite with just a couple of votes short of going through to the head to head today gets eliminated I mean that is only possible in a shambles or far fetched tv reality show
and now that leaves Bully v Covid cheat in the final
dont these political parties learn anything ?
where is the liberal leader or another outsider ?
kill 2 birds with 1 stone opportunity here what the Starmer on the take and the Tories still acting like fools
someone step forward please who puts the country first instead of themselves

James Spencer Cleverly turned out to be not so clever. His demise bears all the hallmarks of more devious dealings from Jenrick, the chap with a multiple page thread on here already of his 'activities'.
So once again, as they did with Sunak and Truss,Tory members are left with no real choice. Thank goodness it doesn't matter too much.

All very well to sneer, and believe me, I do understand, but it really DOES matter, as without a credible and functioning leader of His Majesty's Loyal Opposition, our Parliament suffers. I have a vote in the final selection, but I really don't know what to do yet.

There's 72 Lib Dems to provide a credible opposition while 121 Conservatives continue to fight amongst themselves - as they will dio now that their new leader is not now going to be someone who can unite their inner factions.

I wonder what odds you would get on Ed Davey being the next PM

Leaving it to the Party membership then. You know what happened last time they were given a say in an election, albeit for PM . Yep, step forward Liz Truss . Worked out well didn’t it . Then we had Rishi. Thank God it’s not for PM this time. Not that I’ve got a say but what a conundrum . I think I’d vote Rory Stewart but unfortunately he’s not on the ballot paper😂 Has to be Jenrick then and that’s saying something .

The day that the Lib Dems become "credible" will be the day that our beloved Shrewsbury Town win the Premiership....! Neither are we Tories "fighting amongst ourselves" - we are conducting an election for Leader, which necessarily requires the candidates to express their different points of view: like all other political parties, the Conservative Party is a coalition; as I said, I haven't made up my mind yet.

The phrase ‘the devil and the deep blue sea’ springs to mind.

Pretty poor choice of candidates I must say.
Mind you, they will have plenty of time to get it right as I can't see the Tories coming back into power for a decade, at least.

The Tories have been fighting amongst themselves for years, many of which were to the detriment of running the country. Now the choice for members is between two on the right of the party, so the in fighting will go on.

Still at least they will have killed off all those pesky pensioners.

Meantime, you gotta fight for your right to pension

At the risk of repeating myself, I am unaware of all this "fighting" to which you refer; that there are different strands of thought within the Party is not denied, of course - just like all parties - and those differing opinions have their own adherents, but "fighting" is a mischaracterisation - I know, as I attend meetings.
