After the endless winter of 62/63 the pitch at the Meadow was unplayable for many weeks.To enable us to complete the season tons of sand were laid on top of the pitch. It was on that surface that we defeated Everton to reach the semi final of the first ever League Cup competition.

Went to the Everton game. My old mate Peter Dolby was cycling along Ditherington on his way to the Meadow, when the Everton coach overtook him. He proceeded to score both Town goals in a 2-1 win and yes, it was 60/61.
