The national league are taking a bit of a slating for this, it appears they backed the scrapping of FA Cup replays in return for agreeing to this competition (and of course the money the Premier League will give them for it). I suspect it will be as popular as the Pizza Cup

I suspect it will be as popular as the Pizza Cup I guess Somone did the number crunching and thought this would generate more money for them? We have seen an improvement in the under 21 teams when we play them, so for them it will help there development.

This could be more than of a theoretical interest to us in a couple of year's time.

That is a damning statement indeed...it does sound stupidly illogical and makes the divide bigger.

Probably most of those would be hoping to be at the business end of the table come the spring. Dont want the added distraction, cant blame em.

It’s good to see that some clubs in the lower leagues have principles and stick to them. There is far too much kowtowing to the Premier League.

I'm annoyed that Oldham haven't abstained. They are an ex-prem side. I hope their fans are livid.

That would be the ultimate humiliation for the people who run the National League For the clubs who take part, I hope their fans tell their owners how much of a mistake it is

We've seen the rationale for clubs not taking part, and good on them I say, but what of those clubs actually taking part, why are they so keen to take part?

National league teams already have the FA Cup and FA Trophy as well as 46 league games. Why do they think they need this meaningless cup?

I hope it fails massively, we could become National League members once again in the near future so it’s worrying how they are more concerned with being friends with the Premier League rather than looking after the best interests of their member clubs.
