I don't begrudge him the £10 per knife.

This is long over due, we have had years were young people are killed or face life long injuries, such has having to use a stoma bag for life
. I had a quick Google and using a knife carrys a four year sentence if it is the second offence, that is just not tough enough it should be ten years if you use a knife to harm somone, the first time you use it. Also anyone found to be carrying a knife should get a five year sentence. In combination with returning funding to youth projects that were all cut due to austerity measures. So we use the stick and the carrot to reduce knife crime.
We should have more knife arches, I know stop and search is problematic but they should blitz areas and stop and search everyone in that area who is at an age were they are most likely to carry a knife .

Yet I’ve just watched an advert on TV advertising a Japanese kitchen knife that looks like a miniature zombie knife and no doubt just as deadly. Hopefully there are some safeguards for on line purchases

There are age verification if you buy online but they are not hard to get round, at the end of the day such knives should not be sold at all. If you require such a knife they should only be sold at a specialist shop, were you need to verify why you need it. We live in a digital age such verification is not hard to set up. It is just far to easy to get hold of such knifes
Whilst it would seem rather extreme to us in china, a person ID, ethnicity and address are put into a QR code and Lasered onto the knife.

Sounds a pretty good idea to me. with maybe an added step to hand it in if you have no further use for it.

There is age verification on delivery too ,or supposed to be , I've ordered hundreds of bottles online and the likes of DPD Hermes Amazon simply leave the packet in the porch , these firms need to be tested and hit hard for failing to comply

In 2023 243 deaths from knife attacks and 49,000 knife related offenses, bearing in mind that figure is going to be a lot higher as the 49,000 is only the ones the police actually caught.
