sounds bad, hope he's ok, didnt really see him in a town shirt but I was a temporary villa fan for their championship season, and European cup success, speaking of which I see they have Bayern Munich coming up, I would imagine its a game Gary would have been all over, lets hope he makes it

On a more serious note get well soon Gary . He used to sit next to Roger Groves and me in the Centre Stand at Gay Meadow - used to do a bit of stats and reporting for one of the sports papers if I remember correctly

“temporary villa fan “ ? Glory hunter !! 🤔😉 I've never really found a reason to dislike villa maybe the once when I watched a biased ref help them beat the town 1-0

Seems slightly conflicting news on Gary Shaw with Stan Collymore saying in last 30 minutes that news of his passing is untrue although he is still very seriously ill.
Do hope thats the case. Clearly best known for his Villa days, but alongside Wayne Clarke probably the most instinctive striker I saw play for Town and while he has limited game time with us the goals in the FA Cup run that saw us play Arsenal will live long in the memory.

Sadly now officially confirmed by Aston Villa that Shaw has passed away. Possibly the family were told yesterday but didn’t want the announcement made until today, but news broke through some sources yesterday
Really sad news to start the week with

According to Wiki he scored five goals for us in 22 appearances and I remember his fine instinctive finish when we knocked Wimbledon (then a first division team) out of the FA Cup in 1991 - RIP Gary.

Scored 5 league goals in 90/91 (that 4 minute hat trick included at Bradfotd in December). But he also scored 5 in the FA Cup run too. 2 of those were at home to Bradford in 1st Rd Replay in the November (they must have been sick of him in those fee weeks). Also scored 2 against Watford and the winner against Wimbledon.
