What are you "I was there" moments?
For my dad it was being at athletics track in Oxford to watch Roger Bannister break the 4 minute mile.
For me before tonight it was Live Aid and Super Saturday at London 2012.
Tonight I added seeing the worst International Football team in the world win their first competitive game ever, San Marino 1 Liechtenstein 0. Great night for the home nation

This could be a Salop game list too. Was in an antiques shop in Shrewsbury today, came across a programme for Dagenham and Redbridge in 2012, that promotion game. We got all 4 sides of the Meadow.
Brought back happy memories.

today I drove from Whitchurch to Welshpool, likely the first time time ever done that route, i drove through a village called Pant, near Oswestry , I remember playing there just once and lost a cup game AET 6-4, , I remember it was a hot day and at half time extra time my side had long since all run out of water and were being offered a drink by a local householder so we all crossed the road to get a vital drinks break, the ref suddenly announced youve got 5 seconds or I'll kick off without you and did exactly that, we all raced back on , I even remember aiming and throwing my gloves bag at the guy running towards goal, he actually panicked and shot from outside the box and missed but such a bizarre decision from the ref, I was looking today to see if I could see the pitch as I'd forgotten where it was, but I couldn't see it from the main road, anyway to fit in with this thread just a bit further down the road I saw a pub called the cross guns and instantly remembered this was where we went after the game , this was the day of Hillsborough and the first scenes from that day I saw were in that pub on their tv

15th April 1989, the day Shrewsbury Town saved my life! I went to Hillsborough as a Liverpool supporter having only ever being there once before, to see Shrewsbury in December 1983. I remember Imre Varadi scoring from about a yard out in the first half and Colin Robinson dinking one past the keeper in front of the Leppings Lane end in the second. Two things I remember from the Shrewsbury game, the Hillsborough Kop looked absolutely massive and Leppings Lane away was crap and reminded me of the Goodison Park old away section. Got to the FA Cup semifinal late thanks to British Rail and went through the open gate C which police opened. Nearly everyone ran towards to tunnel into Leppings Lane end and I stopped, turned left, went through an open access gate and around to the corner terrace. I watched the horror unfold before me and I couldn’t do a single thing about it. A day I will never forget.

I was there for the second day of Jim Laker's test at Old Trafford when he took 10 of his 19 wickets. Sat on the grass which you could do in those days.

I was at Old Trafford for Viv Richard’s record 189 1 day score. I was also there when they scored 500 we followed on and lost by an innings and 64 runs. Cant remember the year but also against West Indies at Old Trafford where the first 3/4 days were a wash out.

Great night for the home nation My daughter lived in a flat on Iffley Road when she was at Oxford and visiting her one time I took my spikes and had a go at the mile on the Iffley Road track. 5 minutes 3 seconds😊 Not quite Bannister standard. 1953 was a brilliant year. The coronation, Matthew’s cup final, first ascent of Everest. Gordon Richard’s winning the Derby, England winning the Ashes for the first time in 19 years. Plus the economy improving gradually after the war and social improvements like the NHS and Butler education act improving life for working people.

Irrelevant by comparison but 1986 I was in New York for the reopening and unveiling of the Statue of liberty after refurbishment. The fireworks pomp and ceremony will stay with me forever.

I believe I was there for every match where Dean Peer and Peter Wilding formed a central midfield partnership

I was there, along with 120,000 others, for what turned out to be Led Zeppelin's last home performance. The following year drummer John Bonham drank himself to death😩

Hey Pilch, yes I remember that match well. No thoughts from the ref about dehydration was there. I recall one of the players girlfriends going knocking on nearby house doors to get some bottles filled up.

At Edgabston on the Sunday morning in the 2005 Ashes when we won by 2 runs, I've probably said before but we never nearly went as we only needed 2 wickets and plenty of my friends were asking why we were going as it would be over so quickly. Fortunately I was stubborn and said I wasn't going to miss an opportunity to see us beat the Aussies, very relieved to have done that

Saw a Challenger Space Shuttle launch across the water from Cape Canaveral. Don't know which but it was in the early 1990s and we just happened to be driving though Northern Florida, saw the launch was happening (after various delays) and were able to book into a motel right across from it.
Quite a sight - like the most brilliant, everlasting firework imaginable.
