An astute politician who ran rings round the shambolic uk Brexit negotiators. I came across an interview with the Guardian which surprised me as I thought he was a commited Euro burucrate. We're in the interview he was advocated for more sovereign powers returning to France and for France to not be accountable for the European court of human rights and tougher action on immigration
So it will be interesting to see which one turns up. Of course you can be committed to the EU and still won't more sovereign powers for your country which is anathema to EU liberal elite and it's burucrates, who are frustrated with Hungary for there wish for autonomy and no.immigrants

If M. Barnier and M. Macron were under the impression that the Brexit negotiations were difficult, they will soon discover that surviving they were as nothing when compared with sorting out internal French politics.

Excuse me Grampa grammar, but what does surviving they were as nothing mean? Is surviving them were as nothing good grammar?

You are quite right! My only excuse is that I was concentrating on the Radio Shropshire match commentary!
