A knife attack took place at a Christian festival in Solingen Germany, sadly three were killed and five others were seriously injured. ISIS claimed responsibility and specified it was aimed at Christians.
The news report indicated that so far there have been seven knife attacks by Islamists in Germany so far this year, and also a firebomb attack on synagogue in France.

ISIS claimed responsibility and specified it was aimed at Christians. The news report indicated that so far there have been seven knife attacks by Islamists in Germany so far this year, and also a firebomb attack on synagogue in France. Since 2001 there have been upwards of 175,000 killed in Afghanistan, between 60,000 and 100,000 in Iraq, more than 500,000 in Syria, over 30,000 in Libya and in less than 12 months around 40,000 in Gaza.
We in the so-called civilised west have been interfering in the middle east for over a century and all it has led to is more and more bloodshed. Is it any wonder that a few people are radicalised by the injustices that we in the west have perpetrated over time?
I am not making excuses for the scum bags that carry out these attacks, but I do at least try to understand their reasoning and if someone destroyed my home, my country or harmed my family I too would be looking for retribution.
A lot of this comes down to religion and I have no time for religion or the religious, especially the more extreme versions and their followers.

I agree with your points about the injustices and atrocities carried out on Muslim country's by the west, mostly either for political influence, land or oil and gas. We could add the three million Armenians killed by the Oterman empire, the 200,000 Armenian women forced to marry Muslim men, during WW 1 the 200,000 Armenians who had lived in Azerbaijan for centuries who forcibly deported to Armenia , any who tried to stay were shoot last year
All of it is horrible I sometimes despaire of humanity we can create so many wonderoues things, amazing buildings, poetry , art etc and capable great acts of kindness . Yet we also can carry out acts of immense cruelty and genocide
I also agree that so many religions have been a factor in great suffering. I am a Christian and part of a prayer group, we are praying for the family's who have lost lived ines and the people critically injured and there family's. We will pray for unity not division, peace not hatred. I posted about a football summer camp set up in London and thought are the types of events we need more of that are inclusive open to all abilities, that help social choesion , were we can share a common interest and also hopefully stop some young people from joining gangs

Those good people would still find it within themselves to do those amazing things, or would they? Are they trying to buy their way into some heavenly Shangri La when they die or are they all truly good people. I've had dealings with some very religious people and the thought of spending eternity with them is not my idea of a good time.
I don't believe in any gods and if the major selling point of a god is 'you'll find out when you die' it's not going to work on me, any more than Currys trying to sell me a £50 extended warranty on a £70 vacuum cleaner.
Baghdad was the birthplace of modern algebra and algorithms, the first university was in Morocco, the first ever windmills were developed in Iran/Persia, even time as a concept was developed in Iran and Iraq. The whole region was a hotbed of innovation while we were still struggling out of the iron age and yet is the west that has caused more death and destruction over centuries across the region than anyone else and for what? To gain the upper hand in colonial wars, oil, gold? Because they worship a different god than we do?
Not in my name.

You are not belittling my faith, iv held the same views in the past. I respect your views and I agree the middle east was way ahead of the west in maths and science. iv read a lot of your posts and I share a lot of your views. I hope you don't mind me saying this but You seem to be a very knowledgeable, and compassionate person and the world needs more people who have such values

I don't claim to be knowledgeable, but I do have a decent grip on the ability to use Google. Sometimes I can be lazy and not do enough research before posting, but I do my best to at least try to be factual.
I will accept the compassionate one though, although there are many don't share your views. Having said that I can also be a bit of a twunt when the mood takes me
