One bad injury and his career could be over, as long he is sensible and has has good financial advice, he will be comfortable for life. At 31 years of age As he would be on a Premier League salary.
He just increased his wages by thriteen times.
Being a footballer is like winning the lottery.
He just won the Euros.

The highest paid player at his club according to Google is on two million eight hundred thousand a year . Which seems on the low side Ivan Toney will earn fifty million a year in Saudi Arabia

I guess it’s down to what you value.
I would prefer to be a rich Premier League footballer in the national squad and playing for a team that’s in the running for meaningful trophies than a super rich individual in a league no one cares about.

I agree with you but More and more top flight footballers are different. Greed feeds more greed.

I think Toney has seen the light. Sure he figured for England at the Euro’s but was disappointed he didn’t get more game time. I think he’s looked at the England set up, seen who’s likely to feature in the future and thought , well, I don’t think things will change for me . So, he’s tried the Premiership and did well for Brentford but wasn’t going to trouble the bank accounts of teams like United, Chelsea , Arsenal , Liverpool , Spurs , City etc . To my mind he’s ok coming on late for England when defenders are tired and physically bullying them but not really an international player . I think he’s done what he sees as the right thing for him, a short contract attracting a shed load of money to see him and his family fine for a very long time . Who can blame him really .Hes not going to be paid that sort of money in the Prem . Very few players will see that sort of money . Not so many years ago players played before huge crowds and got paid very little. In a relatively short period how things have changed . Good luck to him .

It is all about what is important to you at different stages of your career, a former Blackpool manager his name escapes me, said he took over at a new club and went to get to know the youth players. He asked them why they had wanted to be footballers, one said he wanted to win the FA cup, the rest all said money, big house, nice cars and buitiful women.
