Just watching Sky Arts,ch130, advert break at 1040pm included an advert for Shrewsbury fans to watch their team on Sky Sports Plus.😳😳
Obviously it was some sort of very clever regional pinpointed advert as I can't imagine people watching in say Carlisle got the same advert

Yes it’s regional advertising but the scary thing is they can tailor it down to a single person or a postcode if they want. You could be seeing different adverts to your neighbour.
A big push from Severn valley railway at the moment as they will have paid clearcast and sky to show it across the midlands.
No one in the north or south are probably seeing these adverts.

Of course. You are giving them lots of data about yourself and your viewing habits, so they will use that to send you targeted adverts as they are going to be much more effective than random generic ones.
It's been happening for many years it's just that now the data you get is getting better so that means the ability to send you more targeted material is also better

I am receiving some adds in Welsh now even though I live In Shropshire but with a Welsh postal address.

The only adverts I get on there are for magnifying glass stockists, telephone bugging devices and fingerprint dusting kits.
That seems a bit weird, why is that?
