RIP GRAHAM MBE.....100 test matches and wonderful memories of one of our greatest left handers. Yet another gone way too young. Loved watching him bat. RIP.

Very sad news , a wonderful batsman to watch.
I saw him at Old Trafford early in his career and he looked every inch a Test batter.
RIP

Far far too young to pass away. Lucky enough to see him bat several times on tour in the 1990's RIP

The best English Batsman of his generation, I was lucky to grow up watching him and be inspired so much that I wanted to be a left hander. A huge battler and mentally very tough.
Very well respected in the game and some nice words on this thread and in media about his qualities as a sportsman and person.
Far too young to go.
A Sad day for Cricket.

I saw him score a delightful test hundred down at the Oval, that was back in 2003.
It was a masterclass in batting against a very good South African bowling attack.
RIP

What a complete batsman Thorpe was - My absolute favourite to watch of his generation.
If we (England) were in trouble, you could rely on Thorpe to come in and just be a calming influence.
His technique was unflappable and so elegant.
Absolutely no age at all to be taken away. Heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends
Thanks for the memories
R.I.P. Mr Thorpe - you English cricketing legend

So sad to read and terrible for his family. A good thing about life today is that we can be more open and understanding about this awful condition. The problem is that there is very little anyone can do or say to help the person suffering from it.
I write as the son in law of a wonderful man who was so badly affected towards the end of his life that he had to be sectioned for his own safety.

There was also a sensitive article from Michael Atherton in yesterday’s Times.
