There's also one with PH on the Shropshire Star site about Jon Nolan. Basically Nolan has fallen out of love with the game because of the injuries he has had. We are helping him regain the love, but it's a long process, but if he can get back to fitness we will probably offer him something. Fingers crossed but it's a long term process

"When I came here, there was almost an acceptance of being fifth bottom. Being not even average, just surviving being acceptable. I think you need more ambition than that. Otherwise, I think it just breeds a bit of complacency. You do not want that culture."
Amen to that. It is so good to see him come out with that. In Hurst we trust.👍

A new season nearly upon us...time to look forward not back.
What was done was done.
Let us hope that we surprise more than a few people over the coming season.

Fans that have said similar have been shot down in the past so there’s some vindication to hear it from him too.

Great interview from Paul Hurst. He has worn his heart on his sleeve in that interview. If he embeds his beliefs in the lads I think we will more than surprise league 1. On top of that there are talented players in the signings so far. He has my backing and I think the Meadow will be somewhere no team wants to come.

Some of us want more, indeed demand and expect more. Thankfully that includes a manager who also recognizes a club that has become complacent and lacking in ambition. Great to hear this from Hurst...👍

I think this may be a decent season.
Feeling positive for the first time in years.
Here's to a mid table finish and a good cup run.

Several pundits, plus fans of other L1 clubs, have written us off as relegation certainties so we need to keep quiet and just let the lads do the talking with their football.
Would be excellent to prove these so called experts wrong and make them eat their words😁

Would be excellent to prove these so called experts wrong and make them eat their words😁 It's just been called as it is. There is no anti-Shrews agenda. Folks look at our squad and staff and make a call on what they see. I'm in complete agreement with the conclusions unfortunately. I view PH in the same way as I did in the summer of 2018. No redemption for the prodigal here. Pushing emotion aside, we have simply replaced one recently failed L2 coach with another. We need to accept that Hurst is a much diminished character from the one that sneaked out the door 6 years ago. This league is no place for fairytales. I would imagine come October/November we'll see that our 'emperor' has no clothes.

This is a very odd take. Have concerns for sure, but you seem to be actively wanting Hurst to fail 🤷🏼

I'm sure there are many who share my view on where we are. Not fussed about laboring the point. I'm happy for those who have forgiven or forgotten. I can't and simply won't. Looking at things purely from a football perspective I don't think we'll have to wait too long for things to move in a more positive direction (from my perspective at least), however scape-goating of the current flawed football structure at the club may keep PH in situ longer than required.

I guess I had the same feelings about hurst before I ever thought he would be back, but its the case there isn't really a choice apart from like it or lump it, the fact is he had a worse record last season that Taylor, those against Taylor simply ignore that, go back further we had a manager who got us 12th but had a massive hand in damaging our club like never before and the knock on effect since,, those who liked cotterill ignore that, before him we had ricketts, now I remember fighting in vain to let him see the season out, and boy did I take some abuse for it, but the more I think about it, the more I think I was right, I think we would be in a better place today had he kept us up or taken us down

At the risk of sounding as if I lack ambition and breed complacency like rabbits, at the moment I would be more than happy for Salop to be fifth from bottom come the end of the season.

Indeed we all hope for much better but if it isn’t to be then 5th from bottom will have to do.

I think fifth from bottom will be harder to achieve this season but we will do that and a bit more. There's room to be cautiously optimistic and I dont understand why such a depressingly pessimistic view should surface from Glasgow at this moment. 2018 is six years ago. Leave it in the past please.

In Hurst we trust.👍 Agree 100%, I remember Gary Peters saying something similar when he took over and changing the entire mindset of the club. As with a lot of things its about context, saying "I'll be happy to avoid relegation' is generally a negative mindset (IMO), particularly when you are at a level that you've been for some time. However, in the context of this season where financially we aren't in a great position and we are competing with teams with far bigger budgets & ambitions then I exect plenty of fan would probably accept simply staying in L1. However, people want to see progress and simply surviving year on year is not progress. Certainly good to see Hurst recognises this
