Would that be the same Nigel Farage that spread false information regarding the British born christian that killed those little girls? He suggested that the culprit was under investigation by the security services and questioned whether the attack was a terrorist one. He is very careful to not actually make accusations, but to hide them behind 'just asking the question', unfortunately his followers do exactly as he intends by putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5. He might not say the words, but the intent to cause discord is there in every single utterance the man makes.
The Tories had years to put in place strategies that would reduce the asylum backlog, but that would have cost them the Reform/Brexit Party/UKIP votes that they've needed over the last few election cycles. Patel, Braverman, et al have been using the outrage over asylum seekers and channel crossers to push the right wing agenda of the ERG wing of the Tory party for years, but now they are seemingly trying to row back in the vain attempt to appeal to moderate Tories.
Nice to see the wife of a Tory councillor and registered child minder getting nicked yesterday for a vile and hate filled rant on Twitter calling for the asylum hotels to burnt to the ground with the people still in them.
“The Tories had years to put in place strategies that would reduce the asylum backlog, but that would have cost them the Reform/Brexit Party/UKIP votes that they've needed over the last few election cycles.” To be clear, There isn’t an asylum backlog, these are illegal immigrants who are being human trafficked in to the UK via many safe countries in Europe Labour are going to let every single one of these remain in the UK, and many more who will now travel over as they see Labour as a soft touch. This is not only dangerous as they are usually undocumented and untraceable, but also detrimental to our lives (housing crisis, lack of GP and dentist appts, public services collapsing), and a population rise that is out of control will make things worse The most simple and effective strategy to “reduce the asylum backlog” would be to return ever single person who comes across illegal back to France - that this hasn’t been happening is a disgrace to British citizens. I don't know where you get your 'Labour are going to let every single one of these remain in the UK' information from, the Excess or GBeebies probably, but unless you have facts that back that statement up I think it's best that we gloss over that one too.
Unfortunately since we left the EU without putting in place the mechanisms to return asylum seekers to a previous safe country that option is no longer available to us. I'm guessing here, but I imagine that you voted Leave in 2016 and to 'Get Brexit Done' in 2019, so you have no-one to blame for this situation but yourself.
I don't know for sure, but I don't think that undocumented and untraceable people are taking up many GP or dentist appointments and if they do by some chance manage to blag a council house I would imagine that they are therefore reasonably traceable, but hey, I could be wrong.
You did get one thing right though, these people are being trafficked into the UK, but that is only possible due the fact that the traffickers know bloody well that they can sell their services with confidence that it will be really difficult to turn the people they are putting on the boats away from our shores. Yay another Brexit bonus.
One last thing. These people are claiming asylum and under international law we have a duty to process that claim. If they are refused and fail in any appeals they are told to leave. If and only if they refuse to leave do they become illegal immigrants.
Anyway I don't want to keep you, I'm sure there's a march on in town soon and I assume you'll be going. Greggs is probably shut now though, so get your tea first. Unless...

Second point - lets see what happens with the "backlog" in the coming months then - if I remember this (i probably won't i'm not that sad) i'll come back to this when (not if) i am proven right and expect an apology. Political bias? Literally said both main parties are as bad as each other on this topic. It's just my opinion. I'm also perfectly entitled to this view on illegal immigration, I would prefer my taxes are used to keep pensioners warm, and go towards vital public services, not pay for foreigners to stay in nice hotels, I will never apologise for expecting my taxes to put British people first

Point 1 - agree Point 2 - as above lets wait and see, i'd love to be wrong but I wont be Point 3 - totally wrong, I blame the useless, gutless Tory government from 2019 to 2024, and I predict Labour won't help this situation, if i'm right i'll blame them aswell. The political establishment in Westminster never wanted Brexit, and the fact we are still rules by the ECHR 8 years on tells me all I need to know... Europe should have zero say on this country after the 2016 vote. Point 4 - that would be highly offensive if I actually cared a jot what you think, I have condemned the violence and rioters from both sides on here, lots of people need locking up for a while. I do, however, wholeheartedly support peaceful protests against the levels astronomical, dangerously high of both legal and illegal immigration You have very clearly shown one of the main problems though, anybody with concerns faces slanderous claims they are “far right”, “hooligans”, “thugs”, “rioters”, “racists”. Water off a ducks vack as far as im concerned

I do, however, wholeheartedly support peaceful protests against the levels astronomical, dangerously high of both legal and illegal immigration If I could pull you up on point 3. The ECHR is nothing to do with EU and never has been. It was drawn up by the Council of Europe following WWII and Britain was the main architect of it and the first country to ratify it. Most if not all the human rights legislation of the last 70+ years is a direct result of that agreement.
Between 2019 and 2022 one of the main drivers of Brexit was in charge of the country and his cabinet was full of people like Rees-Mogg. So there was the pinnacle of the Westminster establishment, who incidentally were doing very well out of it, setting the tone and basically deciding what Brexit meant. Like I said, I assume you voted to 'Get Brexit Done' and are still not happy because some of the most Brexitty people in the country couldn't get a Brexitty enough Brexit for you. What more did you want out of it?
If the protests were peaceful I could agree on point 4, but looting Greggs and ShoeZone for crying out loud, setting fire to hotels housing asylum seekers and burning down a library are hardly the result of peaceful protest. I went on the 2014 anti-austerity march and the anti-Brexit march in 2019 and the police were standing around bored out their minds because they were both so bloody peaceful. The hardest work they did was give directions to the nearest loo.

I have no problem with people that have concerns about immigration, I too have concerns, but when you do see thugs, hooligans, far right instigators and racists among those rioting, looting and burning hotels and a bloody library down it doesn't take a genius to see that there is a connection. Farage even admitted that he shared false information on Twitter about the name, nationality and status of the murderous little s**t that attacked and killed little girls without checking or caring that it could be wrong. Worst of all is that the tweet he shared was from that paragon of virtue Andrew chuffin' Tate.

My genuine worry is that the longer people feel ignored about this topic, the worse these situations will get. It might not be now, might not be in 5 years, 10 years, whenever, if it continues to be ignored, it will get worse - it could be all out civil war one day…

From what I've been able glean so far the vast majority of people on the streets throughout the country are on my side of the fence. So any imminent civil war is likely to be a very short lived event. The right wing believe that they have the support of the people, but it looks that they have over-estimated the size of their fan base.

Usually, but this government has only been in place a month. This one seems to be even more tone deaf than the last. The people of this country spoke last night. Tens of thousands of them turned up to deny fascism, thuggery, violence, looting and burning of libraries its place in this country. I think the tone deaf ones were those hiding behind the very police that they were hoping for a scrap with.

We really need to find a way to stop the divisions.
The government have inherited a country that is in a real mess, with so many social issues, infrastructure problems. All the issues are well known.
The government need to find a way to fund inclusive community projects to bring all faiths all culturers together.
I'm sure there are many other things that can be found from good practice in other countries.
It is to easy to look at what is wrong and if you feel marginalised and not listened to then it can lead you down a dark path.
I was in the royal oak in Welshpool not long ago a community organiser was having an online meeting in the lounge looking at various community projects in mid wales.what they were doing was very impressive in sustainable projects with very little funding.
So pheharps we could have some local community forums on how can we improve our community.linked to the council with some central funding.
