Is the pitch noticeably bigger and is this affecting the way we are playing?
I haven’t managed to watch any footage of the friendlies. I absolutely hated the narrow pitch over the last few seasons. It seemed a really negative, limiting tactic.

I was watching yesterday and I was still surprised with the amount of grass between the pitch and the West Stand, I mean considering we have extended it. Plenty more room available if we want it anyhow.

The pitch is the same from what I can tell, been to all home friendlies.
I believe Hurst said it is getting extended/wants too but hasn’t been done yet

It has already been extended and will be widened for the start of the league season.

We stood in safe standing (Block 11) yesterday and the pitch looks to be about 1.5m wider each side and possibly a metre or so longer at each end. Not the greatest increase, but may have influenced the way we played yesterday - seemedto be more room in midfield and extra space for Hoole & Bennning to get forward and overlap down the wings.
If only as a fan base we'd been calling for a bigger pitch for the last three seasons! Expect fewer matchday injuries for the squad as players have more space to operate.
On a side note - does anyone know if the training pitch at Sundorne has similarly been increased to match The Meadow?

I think it's all in the mind and makes no difference at all , I've discussed it with others at every one of the friendlies , the general consensus was we can't tell if it's been widened or not and if it has by how much , i think the only benefit of a narrower pitch is for long throwers

Hurst in his post Birmingham interview said it had been lengthened and will be widened. You could see from the RW stand the markings by how much it is going to be widened on that side.

It is currently 68metres wide and will be 72 come the season. 2 metres both sides to be added. My understanding is training pitch same size so will also be widened
