As I have daughter who loves football I am really behind women’s sport regardless of the discipline. We regularly produce great women footballers, swimmers and athletes amongst many more.
My gripe is the media around women’s cricket. Yesterday they kept saying it’s great for the women’s game that the ground is sold out. I watched the women’s game to see the Stadium less than half empty. The game had clearly sold out for the men’s game later that night. The narrative annoys me. Again the crowds today are poor for the first game.
I want more people to watch women’s cricket so call out the fact it’s not full and have a call to arms.
Meanwhile as for teams, Birmingham are going to struggle again this year, despite having Mo Ali in the side. Women were v poor too.

I expect it will be over in the next few years. It hasn't taken off like the ECB had hoped, their way out was the potential selling off of the franchises but even that looks to have various issues (see links below) My gut feel is the 100 will cease to exist within a few years but the franchises will remain, instead they will become part of the T20 Blast. Ultimately it's a mess though because the ECB have managed to mess up the scheduling in all forms of the domestic & international games in this country for a format that no one else plays. I know people say the English FA are a bunch of amateurs, well the ECB are on a whole other level! I think the main benefit of the 100 has been the growth of the womens game but I expect that will be the main loser when the 100 goes. inews.co.uk/sport/cricket/the-hundred-expansion-danger-english-cricket-3186533www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2024/07/18/hundred-sale-plans-danger-millions-short-ecb-target/

Been to the competition the last couple of years and the kids loved it. Great atmosphere in Birmingham 👏🏻

All the games I've viewed so far have been very one sided and of poor quality.
You're better off paying a tenner and watching one of the County Sides. Longer 50 over format too.

Rarely comment on anything un-STFC related but given my username this attracted me.
For me the 50 Over competition is where its at, the Hundred is a vanity competition dreamt up by the ECB.
August is an odd month in the County Cricket Calendar now, No Test Cricket and two competitions going head to head, alas with the 50 Over format very much the poor relation.
The Hundred does seem to have done something for the women's game and that's a good thing.
The Kids seemed to be into the T20 Blast which is also battling with the Hundred.
Personally look forward to when the Hundred is a thing of the past but I understand I'm a bit of a luddite.

Never watched it and never will....as far as cricket is concerned I am a purist....to me there is nothing better than two well matched and balanced sides going head to head over 5 days.

Do enjoy a bit of cricket in any format.Ive always been a Lancashire man but there's no way I'm getting behind their "hundred hybrid"...the Manchester Originals 😳😳..sorry but that's just wrong. There's nothing original about Manchester, even their greatest band- Oasis, was nothing more than a Beatles tribute act😁😁

There's just one thing in it's favour - it's put live cricket back on BBC TV. Maybe one day live Test Match Cricket will be free to watch...

I've not been in favour of the 100 from day one and my view has not changed one little bit.
It's an ECB vanity project that is out of kilter with the rest of the world of cricket. Why they didn't just stick with the domestic T20 competition and really get behind it is down to one thing and one thing alone, greed.
I hope the 100 gets canned sooner rather than later.

The irony is that the 20 over format is an ECB invention, that they 'failed' to market and monopolize (there is a theme running here with the UK).
The T20 Blast, is/was successful in its own right and very unique to say the IPL (Which I also have little interest in) and the Big Bash (slightly more appealing), Even that is fighting right now with 'the Hundred'
