Scary performance. A world away from any of the absolute sh1 we were served up last season. T’was only a friendly and I’m in danger of getting slightly carried away but the passing and the quick tempo was such a breath of fresh air. Issue may still be where the goals come from but 20th (or a bit above) doesn’t seem so pie in the sky now. O’Reilly might just be the most exciting player we’ve had since Shaun Whalley in his prime. Accurate passing and and playing at a high tempo!!!! What a refreshing change.

I alluded to it on another thread but the keeper is surely Brian Jensen’s son?

Brian Jensen's son, England u15 & u16 international. Was in Everton's academy (U18s), but was released last year. Played on loan at Sandbach United (North West Counties, Division One South - Step 10 in the football pyramid) last season. Makes sense as to why he could be about the group, but seems unlikely we'll see him sign as our second choice keeper. However, the power of patronage goes beyond logic. Edit - seems like it's not him

Can't be relying on under 18 goalies as cover...need to make sure savin takes his " deep heat" on the pitch with him,and skitty gives him a good massage beforehand!!!👍😳🤨😉

As others have said these trialist keepers are more to make sure there is a keeper plus doing them a favour as well by potentially putting them in the shop window.
My hunch is that Town missed out on Whitworth to Exeter and are now scrabbling around for an alternative.
You win some you lose some.
That's a great last line from you talkingoftheshrews might have to borrow it someday.

Difficult to know what to make of things just from the highlights of course but I think it will be good to see how we get on against the likes of Telford and Oldham once we have Derby out of the way this weekend. As Hurst pointed out there are benefits of going up against better sides but that said, looking to the highlights against Brum and Leicester and seeing our defence at sixes and sevens a good few times you'd like to know whether that's down to the standard of opposition or our own defensive struggles. Hopefully the games against Telford and Oldham will bring a bit of balance. Agree with what you say about Leicester - both Mavididi and Fatawu spent all last season terrorising Championship defences and we wont come across players of that standard in League 1. Leicester also have class players like Winks who can play a quick accurate ball through the opposition's midfield and that seemed to be where we struggled with their speedy forwards already running when the pass was played.

We've got a good relationship with Palace, Hurst and the club like a loan keeper, and it's often cheaper than signing someone permanently.

Hoole looks really good to me, might prove to be the best of the new players when the season gets going. O'riley, very tricky and confident but has been pushed off the ball very easily in both games I've seen. Trialist A gets the reserve keeper gig imo. Benny Gall's son I beleive ?? Yeah I saw that today, quite the coincidence if true.

Read David Edwards article in today's star, seems pleased with the improvement from last year but saying what we all are, that we need more players also pointed the budget we have this year is small.
It would be interesting to know we're we stand on the budget compared to our peers Also interesting to see how splash the cash,Wrexham compare to the self sustainability Burton model with the Norwegian consortume

Got 2 loans off them a couple of years ago but now have entirely different staff. They loaned out 3 players this week and none of them were mentioned with town. And also loaned out Ola Adebomi in Jan to Burton despite being linked to town. And Whitworth too
