With pressure mounting on all sides it was no suprise that Biden will not be standing, what finished things for him was the big donners would not support him. So we now have Harris after time as district attorney in California she is disliked by many African Americans, she has hardly set the world on fire as vice president, whilst the obvious choice I had hoped the Democrats would have gone with someone else.

With all due respect I disagree. As long as she picks the right running mate there is good chance that she beats Trump in November.
She is a seasoned campaigner, having stood as DA, AG and Senator, so she knows how to win votes.
Although she was a prosecutor she was actually quite fair, binning off the 3 strikes policy for anything short of violent felonies whilst DA. How many people (mostly people of colour) are incarcerated long term for minor drug offences throughout the States? She also set up a hate crime unit and worked with many civil rights campaigners.
Whilst AG she determined that minor marijuana offences should not result in jail time. She also went all out against corruption and gun crime.
Also just to add, her grilling of Brett Kavanaugh is legend. How that excuse for a human being is on the highest court in the land is beyond me.
Her choice of running mate is important. My choice would be either Pete Buttigieg or possibly Mark Kelly. Both are combat veterans, so they would both appeal to the military/veteran community which makes up a sizable chunk of the electorate, at last count around 18m or so. having the law enforcement background of Harris and a military background as VP pick could well bring a lot of traditional non-MAGA republican voters or floating voters over to the Dems.
Personally I would love to see Buttigieg face off against Vance (James Donald Bowman, born in Ohio into reasonably well off family, not on a dirt poor farm in the Appalachians contrary to his claims) in a debate. I highly doubt that Trump will agree to any more televised debates, because he knows that Harris will rip him a new one, but the VP picks might not be able to avoid it.

I just can’t see America voting for a woman to be honest. Sad but true.

Thanks for the response. I Knew sone of these facts but not all. I respect your opinion, I really do hope she can win as you say the choice of running mate could be crucial.

I just can’t see America voting for a woman to be honest. Sad but true. Why not? Clinton won the popular vote in 2016, it was only the electoral collage that did for her. Same as it did with Gore when he went up against George W. Bush.

Believe it not I don't think Trump himself is the problem, he's beholden to the Christian Nationalists and they are the ones pulling his strings. He comes across as a victim of the system, of the elite and his base love that, even though it couldn't be further from the truth. He's a salesman and a grifter and that is his one real talent.
Harris needs to get people out voting, because when 55% of the electorate vote the Reps win, 65% and the Dems just take it, 75% will destroy the GOP.

Trump on the other has 4 years of politics disrupting his tee times, while his VP pick has a grand total of 18 months experience in the Senate and he only got there by being funded by billionaire venture capitalist Peter Thiel.

Crazy how quickly things fell apart. You see an awful lot of questions now being asked about the Democrats and the sycophant media about how they basically lied to the American public about the mental and physical state of Biden. As sharp as a tack he is not and it would seem hasn't been for some time now. So I do think its good that Biden has moved on. He clearly is not up to the task and its best that he has handed over to someone else. Whatever happens going forward, that Biden is not going to be the next president of the US is the best thing to come out of this mess. As for Harris, who knows. I think most thought Trump would be huge favourite if he was going up against Biden but now its all bets are off and its a whole new race. Its fascinating stuff, its going to be really interesting watch from here on in...👍

Now at least we should have some opposition to Trump

Now at least we should have some opposition to Trump There is now some focus on Harris and her time as "border czar" under Biden (as this is no doubt something the Republicans will focus on). As pointed out in this article, it's important to remember that there is no official "czar" of anything of course... Gaslighting the Public on Kamala Harris as ‘Border Czar’...but it is certainly a title that was bestowed on Harris by many in the media including the likes of CNN, MSNBC and Axios. The very same media who are now saying that Harris was never the "border czar" and any suggestion she was is Republican misinformation. I mean the articles are there for all to see, as is footage from the likes of CNN and MSNBC referring to Harris as Biden's "border czar". The media over there really is something else. Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia. But sure, I think the Democrats did the right thing in moving on from Biden and I think it will now be fascinating to see how this now plays out. I do think Biden should have stepped aside now, mind. I would have thought it would have been better to allow Harris to take over things now and show what she can do (leading up to the election).

After what happened outside Union Station in D.C. yesterday and the lack of response from the Democrats condemning it it, good luck to her she's going to need it.

I looked on a few news sites and all say there was about a thousand prot esters. Compare that to a million plus in London and this is nothing. However what will play into republican hands is the vandalizing a monument and especially if true pulling down a US flag and replacing it with a Palestinian flag, this is mentioned in US news reports but not al jazera. Macing 23 protestors seems rather heavy handed.

She's the one that can beat Trump. He's said some pretty stupid things since she was proposed, he's floundering. A generational change from the oldest ever presidentional candidate to a new generation, more in touch with women and gun rights, is taking over.

The White dudes for Harris Zoom call raised $4 million last night. White women for Harris raised $8.5 m a couple of nights earlier. So far over $200 m has been donated to the campaign. All it needs now is for Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Dolly Parton to endorse her and hold a fundraiser. That would really tip the balance. Harris has called the Trump campaign weird and laughed at them and they are losing their s***. They don't do humour in Trumpland, so to become the brunt of a joke is killing them.

Interestingly but more worryingly depending on your view of Trumps intentions I see that at a recent rally of “Christians for Trump” he’s heard to say (paraphrased) “ Vote for me this time around and you’ll never have to vote again “ 🙄🤔

The US is heading towards a Christian theocracy if Trump wins in November, but with the potential for a civil war if he doesn't. The 2,500 or so unarmed rioters on Jan 6th will pale into insignificance if the election doesn't go his way.
This is potentially the most important election in the history of the US. A Trump win will not only affect the US, but the world as whole. We all know his thoughts on NATO and the fact that he and Putin see eye to eye on so many issues would mean a free rein for the latter in Ukraine and possibly even the Baltic states, Georgia and beyond.

Tim Walz is looking a better choice as running mate every day, pulling in more and more votes for the Harris ticket. On the hand JD Vance is actually costing the Trump campaign votes. Every new poll is seeing Harris pull ahead and she is even closing the gap in Texas and Florida which would be massive.
The biggest problem for Harris is going to be if any of the swing states are close. Trump has already put in place a sympathetic Supreme Court and many of the lower courts in those states, so all he needs to do is to bring the vote into doubt, take it to court and he's nailed on to win in those cases. He has already changed his slogan from a re-run of Make America Great Again to Stop The Steal, putting doubt in the integrity of the vote before it even starts.
