anyway, back to topic, we were short of ideas today against a side with not too many plans themselves but they were too classy for us in just keeping possession, 2-0 was about right

Lots of positives for me. Need 2 upfront though. Think Marquis will partner Lloyd. Liked O’Reilly real class player. Biggins puts himself about and got a good engine. Winchester again gives his all and covers every blade of grass. Defensively we look like we need to start the 4 players who Hursty thinks will start the season in these remaining friendlies just to get that understanding.

I'm following it on social media and it's a bit sad the most response/photos currently seem to be about the state of the concourses and the bird poo everywhere. Bird s**t on seats is one thing, but right next to the condiments on the concourse shelving is another… vile, how hard is it to get someone to wipe them down over the last 3 months? They just don’t care…

Was hoping to go today but bloody gout has done for me . Thought with Allupurinol 300 tabs I’d beaten the curse plus sensible eating but no . I’ve obviously munched on something I shouldn’t ( the list of don’t eats is endless ) but I’m improving thankfully . Thanks for the update though Chameleon . Sounds as if we have got some decent players for the coming season . Birmingham well above us as a club and so they should be in our second city . Tell me did Nurse play and if so how did he perform ? It’s early days but I’m quietly optimistic for the coming season . A mid table / top half just outside play offs would be great as long as we don’t trouble the relegation places .

Sorry to hear about the glut. I’ve had it and it’s so painful I know.

I thought a volunteer spent a week of his own time cleaning the concourse and with his own equipment as well. Poor from the club unlike you to moan at the club, apparently he was doing more damage than good and was politely asked to stop, what would you do if in that situation at home ? Likewise Pilch doesn’t like or think the FC should be held to account. Maybe Roland or Dibbly Dobly Jane Bebb or A Tretton etc would like to have one of the pies on sale and eat it at that spot…..Thought not Surely it’s not much to expect some cleanliness…H&S and all that?

The crew on the car park seem to have changed and not for the better. Previously welcoming and knew precisely what they were doing.

Who to believe 🤔 2nd different thread that's been hijacked about this non story this week , didn't the guy who initially started it delete the thread on Facebook Oh wait, maybe the club ordered Facebook to delete it at gunpoint , or maybe they are on the payroll like I am zzzzzzz just start a new thread on it ffs Dear me , moan moan moan about things that happen every week at football grounds all around the country Pathetic if you want pathetic , I thought the warming up of the sub keeper was pathetic and amateurish , that to me is something we maybe should be discussing , maybe some misses it as they were tucking into their pie 🕊️🥧 💩

I feel better after seeing that - I am now just a little bit hopeful that we can avoid the drop.
Birmingham split their starting 11 between the first and second half teams so when we play them in anger they will be much better but you can already see that they are going to romp home in League 1.
For what its worth my view is that we need to play two up front - I was really impressed by Lloyd and I'm sure that he and Marquis together will cause defenses real problems. Lloyd had some nice touches with Bloxham and O'Reilly which bodes well - O'Reilly looks a real talent with good distribution and able to turn players easily. Brum ripped through us a bit too easily at times but they are good and I doubt many will have wingers or wing backs as good as theirs.
Trialist A - 5 - Didn't have much to do - kicked the ball out less than Marosi Nurse - 6 - Impressive return, some good passes Nsiala - 5 - a couple of slips and positioning with Hoole was not always there but generally solid Feeney - 6 - looked solid, not sure about him being on the left side, but did ok Hoole - 5 - some nice touches but positioning with the winger was not always there Winchester - 5 - ok, ran a lot without really getting control Biggins - 5 - ok, clearly something to work on: particularly distribution O'Reilly - 8 - looked a class act with really neat passes and attacking mindset Shipley - 5 - tried hard but nothing seemed to click Bloxham - 7 - not everything paid off but showed some very good touches, link up play and crosses Lloyd - 7 - looked really lively and had some really neat play with O'Reilly and Bloxham
Trialist B - 5 - Didn't have much to do - kicked the ball out less than Marosi Pierre - 6 - looked solid with some solid blocks and headers Godwin - 5 - had some nice touches and looked eager but little impact Loughran - 5 - ran around a lot and made some good challenges and had some neat touches, but little impact Perry - 5 - did ok when he came on, little chance to make an impact but did nothing wrong

How did I miss Benning - he was great when he came on - first to the ball so many times and used the ball well when he got it - a 7 all day long - to think he was a last minute panic signing.

Some interesting comments from Hurst basically confirming Price has told us to do one in not being offered a deal which is a real shame as his passing and quality if fit would bring our team up massive amounts.
Suspect 5 left to come in for cert with 4 loans. Keeper, left sided defender, centre mid, striker and maybe another right mid. Suspect he will give Nolan as long as possible to get fit.
Imagine we will be starting first few weeks of season barely making an 18 without a few of youth team involved as the loans will be later August moves.
Please come and train Jack.

Probably more a case of getting match fitness, and seeing what pairings work well together.
Might try and get to the evening game on Tuesday.
As for Jack Price, not worried whatsoever, he needs to be fit for 90 Minutes, if Nolan can do that then he deserves his place.

In the Hurst interview he says the pitch has been lengthened.
And will be widened before the start of the season.

I know this was a pre season friendly, but did any of the players who were with us last season look like they had improved under PH’s coaching? Just wondering.

Benning certainly looked sharp and keen cant say I saw improvements anywhere else, some maybe seemed worse but in fairness this was the first test of the season against a very good side

Our trialist keeper has been trying hard to make sure they got in front with his crazy distribution , 3rd time lucky it paid off 0-1 With the squad they have they really don't need his help

Watching on Brum TV, we looking bit energetic more then the crowd but Birmingham look very good for league 1 Someone needs to tell the commentor we may be a established league 1 club, but with so many departures we are not a established league 1 team (yet). And we have a fraction of their budget. That said there's a gulf in quality on show first half. With the squad they have there is always going to be a gulf in quality. Let us hope Hurst can replicate the work ethic of the last time he was in charge with a high level of fitness and doing the basics right, to make up for any quality shortcomings we have.

A Shoosbury 28 v Brum 30. I take these games of musical chairs very seriously. It helps with fitness I suppose. If you paid me about 500 quid, sent a show fur driven limo for me and had P P Arnold with her bootiful voice singing for me at half time, I'd be pleased to attend.
