Day 1 (of 2) of the awards and we have the following.....feel free to add your own.
The ‘John Lennon’ award for the person who has been most sadly missed over the last 12 months
Honourable mentions:
Shakey252 - Disappeared from the professional football scene but continues to support Hereford and work at KFC. God bless him…
LeeTUFC - This nice friendly lad disappeared in the middle of the year, to be replaces by ‘Lee’, a particularly bitter poster that occasionally stumbles back onto our messageboard to mention his new girlfriend and how well-run KFC are.
Winner:
ProfessorPatPending – After a spat with PeteD, this legend of the board made yet another vanishing act, with his words of ‘Howie is going to cost us big time by the end of the season’ still ringing in our ears. Has reappeared as ‘Matt’ on the ShrewsWeb and 3rd Division messageboards, but as yet has not returned to his spiritual home. Or has he?…….
Achievement of the year
Honourable mentions:
The B&A Fanzine – I’m obviously a little bit biased, but having gone from a pipe dream to reality, we managed to shift a combined total of around two and a half thousand copies of our first four issues, I think it deserves a mention.
Vets and Under 20s – The Blue and Amber football team has been going for over 4 years now, but this year it was joined by a couple more, thanks to the efforts of Jamo and PeterJones, all overseen by our leader Ant. The emergence of RatcliffesGhost and Gpricey as aspiring linesman and referee has been somewhat less welcome.
Winner:
The B&A photo CD – An incredible amount of work went into this by PILCH and he was ably assisted by others too numerous to mention. What we have though is a momento of an incredible year (for all the wrong and right reasons), and probably the biggest season for B&A in terms of increasing its standing and contribution to the world of STFC. Well done all.
'The artist formerly known as....' award for change of username
Honourable mentions:
Many long-time users of the board decided to have a bit of a change this year, and so it was that we saw the departure of RocketRodgers, PeteD, PaulWilliams, DavefromAlty (temporarily) and Theoneandonly and saw Mrs Sedgemore, Morpheus, Chaz, Campo and Geoff emerge.
Winner – Not only did she change her username (again), but this time she embraced a new activity in a big way, falling out of skies on a frequent basis with a great deal of courage. Well done to Blue Skies.
Moment of the year
Honourable mentions:
The first sighting of Gary Newbon at Uttoxeter was an absolute classic.
Pricey’s refereeing debut in the Vets Vs B&A game sparked levels of vitriol not seen on these shores since Lord HawHaw last broadcasted
Winner:
Trevor Challis’ penalty against Aldershot. We all know where we were – some pictures have even captured us celebrating it. It is up to the current team to preserve the resonance of this for us, and that it isn’t allowed to go the same way as the memory of Mickey Brown’s goals at Exeter.
The ‘Roy Walker’ award for catchphrase of the year
LoyalShrew – His frequent habit of starting posts with ‘Crikey’ is a real throwback to those Enid Blyton novels
Tricky – It was good to see him back on the scene this year and his ‘…….RAUS!’ have made of endless seconds of entertainment
TelfordShrews – ‘I’m not going, I’ve had enough’. Unfortunately, the lack of truth to these statements regarding future games, mean that he won’t win it this year.
Winner:
MysticMurray – ‘It’s all a load of b******s really’.
We'll wrap up the awards tomorrow.
