Never mind the euros the draw for the big one has been made. Town have been drawn against Birmingham City, Walsall and an yet to be announced under 21 club. Looking forward to it already. How many names has this trophy had over the years.

I bet it's really sinking in for the Brum fans when they see their entered in this competition. Never mind the fixtures coming out on Wednesday.

With no reserve fixtures this is always a chance for fringe players to get a game and yo can guarantee that if there is a Wembley game at the end it we will find 20000 extra fans. We will be sick of the sight of Birmingham City by the end of the season but no matter the competition the fans will be out supporting them so money in the bank.

I think Birmingham won this competition once with a worldly goal by a player we then signed. I don't think I'm imagining this.

If the under-21 teams were ever to be removed from the competition... it could work perfectly by structuring it how the Euros work:
There would be 48 teams in total, with a North and South section, each with 6 groups of 4 teams (so 24 teams in each section).
From the group stage, 16 teams would advance to the knockout rounds (the top 2 teams in each group together with the 4 best third-placed teams).
It could then be either a free draw from the quarter-finals onwards, or remain separated as North and South until the final at Wembley.
There's just one problem with this plan – it's a plan that makes logical sense!

Fulham it is then - I can remember us playing their first team in the league in the early 1990s.
