The first ever official fishing question 🎣🎣🎣🎣
So who likes fish ? I mean as in food , and even that has quite a wide variety
Personally , I love any of the common choices , salmon , tuna , chippy , shop options , Prawn , King prawn , even scallops
I know family and friends that are like me but won't touch shellfish
And then there is sushi , I've never tried raw fish and bottled it the only chance I had to try it , most shop options are not raw fish anyway
How about roe / caviar ? Never tried it , not keen too
Eel ? Never tried , Don't think I could stomach them , don't even like Jellied pork pie 😝
I am willing to try oyster just never got round to it
What are your fish tastes ?

Sushi is awesome. If you want an introduction to it grab some maki, which is usually a small piece of raw fish embedded within rice and wrapped in seaweed. I say usually because you can get veggie options which use cucumber or similar instead of fish. Nigiri and sashimi are for the stronger-stomached!

Caviar is weird stuff. Strange salty texture which is hard to describe. I think people use it to garnish salads but it has no real purpose. Just a gimmick delicacy. You're not missing anything

Only fish for me is covered in batter and eaten with chips. Dont mind cod or haddock but that's as far as I go with fish.

I know what you mean , I saw a captain Birds Eye offer at sainsburys yesterday , it was for the omega 3 fish , anyone know what the Omiga 3 fish is ? it was half the price of the cod offer

Best left in the water as far as I’m concerned!

As Belfast says Maki or Temaki (hand roll) are good places to start. Umai does hot food and other bits as well as Sushi so don't need to go all in on Sushi. I'd recommend Takoyaki (Octopus Balls). Pretty much like any fish and most seafood. Don't really cook it much but if abroad on the med would always choose mussels, squid, octopus though. Delicious! Not bothered about Oysters. Have had them smoked before but raw doesn't really appeal, and cost of them also obviously an off putter. Same for caviar, don't think I've ever tried it. One thing that I won't touch though is tinned tuna. Just reminds me of cat food. No thanks!

YUK 🤮
Very limited taste with a couple of exceptions.
Start with fish from the chippy, what’s the point? Take off the batter and you get a bland slightly fishy strange texture that just spoils the chips….. feel the same about pretty well all white fish but did used to enjoy fish fingers as a kid. Also still do eat scampi but wouldn’t bother without the bread crumbs and tartar sauce. Only other fish I eat is smoked mackerel and cockles which we had regularly as a kid and always bought off the cockle man. Forgot to mention kippers but only the boil in the bag sort.
My mum was from London and we used to visit every year and she’d always go to her favourite Jellied Eel shop, forced to try once which probably caused my obversion to fish.
Edit. Forgot about Tuna but only the tinned variety with Mayo

My Granddaughters fella is an avid fisherman. He sometimes keeps Juan to eat, but mostly he puts them back. I never understood why you would catch a fish, just to put it back in the water. He must be good at it though, he's had his picture in several fishing magazines, and was front cover on Juan a couple of months back.
Perhaps it's me being jealous, the only time I've been in a magazine, was when I was centrefold in Pig Breeders Monthly.

Not very adventurous with fish. Just anything from Harry Ramsdens. Iceland at Harlescott have two freezers dedicated to Harry. Cod, Haddock, Scampi, Pies, Chips, Fish Cakes, Mushy peas. All brilliant quality and reasonably priced especially compared to what you would pay at a chip shop. Air fryer instructions with all of it which is a bonus. Boring old person, news at ten , Shrewsbury.

Always found it strange as an island nation just how many of our inhabitants don't eat or like fish.

As a child I would only eat fish with equal amounts of tomato ketchup. I’m still not keen on anything that tastes too fishy but if there’s batter, breadcrumbs or a sauce to mask the flavour then I really enjoy eating good quality fish.
I also like prawns, scallops and smoked salmon or mackerel. The latter needs careful eating though as bones are often left in, about which I have a real phobia.
Talking of which, I only tried eel once. No problem with the jelly, but the bones and strong taste were another matter. 🥴

Always found it strange as an island nation just how many of our inhabitants don't eat or like fish. I think most of the demographic on here are from Shropshire which is a brave trek to the sea. Me however grew up next to fishing villages etc. I think that might explain a lot!

I was recently in Venice so thought I'd try and sample the local food which is not too surprisingly fairly heavy on seafood. I sampled a few ones I've had never before, Octopus, Cuttlefish, langoustines, all very nice and would eat again
I've had sushi in a restaurant once, it was fine, my main complaint was I spent a fortune on these little plates for me and the wife and came away feeling hungry still

Fresh, or tinned in oil, makerel, warm in fresh bread rolls. Oysters ok for fun. Prawns seem to have gone down in quality so need to buy the best. Sea bass is nice, but not served with the head on and full of bones as it was at a restaurant in Llandudno. The Young's range of slightly different fish in the dark boxes in the freezer sections is my standard go to.
Apparently the owner of the Michelin star restaurant near Mach calls at Caersws chippy, open Thurs, Friday and Saturday evenings, if he fancies fish and chips. Very nice they are too, and with a choice of salts, such as garlic salt.

Don’t often buy fish and chips but enjoy occasionally. Eat salmon baked in foil on regular basis. Enjoy smoked mackerel fillets.
I’ll eat small peeled prawns but cannot be bothered to pick apart king prawns so will always avoid in any dish. Feel same about any shellfish, so will never order.
Never had an oyster and never will as 100% certain it would return seconds later if tried to swallow it.
