I’d have thought he’d have brought Grealish on by now.

Get that one out of the way before the real games start.
Could be worse, we could have failed to score against the 'mighty' Gibraltar in 203rd place out of 210 in the rankings.

Iceland , drawing on a population of 377,000 , half of which are male , God knows how many are adults , playing against the mighty England who can boast players from the top tier of World football , winning 1-0 and it’s described as “ disappointing “ by players and whoever . I’ve got a word for it and it’s not “ disappointing . With our embarrassment of riches surely we could play our 5th team say and expect to win . I know it’s just before we leave for the Euro’s and players don’t want to get injured but bloody hell that was s**te .

That was a very worrying performance - flat in attack creating very little against Iceland's low block and wide open to the counter with the defence all over the place. Much work to be done on the training ground next week.

Much work to be done on the training ground next week. , caught us cold early on, and then they parked the bus, 11 men behind the ball it was a friendly and all we could do was attack them and continue to do so until we scored, we just couldn't find the net, good to get that out of the way and remind us about complacency before the real thing, glad I never took the p**s out of Wales earlier, these things happen occasionally, just hopefully not too often

Gibraltar are 203rd, in the bottom 10 of the nations. To not score against them is a total embarrassment As you say, get that out of the way and remove any complacency. Who have Wales got on their first game, remind me I've forgot.....

Actually watched about half of this. It was played at friendly pace, don't think it's that representative. And the group games of the tournament don't matter hugely, there's plenty of time for England to get going.
That said, the defence was slow to respond to their attack and stood off the scorer and letting him hit it. All 3 group sides have good forwards perfectly capable of doing the same.

Iceland should have definitely scored a 2nd goal late in 2nd half, they cut us open far to easy....defence needs to tighten up...... we'll struggle against Serbia and Denmark...... they're no mugs, with decent players

In the ‘you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone’ department, Maguire was missed in both penalty areas.

Was all a bit "meh". Was a tad concerning that there was next to no response to going behind, no response after the break and no response after we made those 4 or 5 subs. Indeed it was Iceland who created the better chances second half. I think Fingernail's post regarding Grealish has a fair bit to it.

I remember watching France at home to Luxembourg not that long ago , finished 0-0 and luxembourg hit the post at one point , this is the kind of football no one likes apart from the fans who want the underdogs to win or the critics of their own side , having seen our own side "the town" adopt this style when up against bigger side in recent seasons it's all well and good when 0-0 of or when you snatch that goal on the break but it's a game where there is no plan B , you go one goal behind and you might as well go home and a lot more often than not a dull defeat is the outcome
as for last night , s**t happens now and then and that ball just won't go in

I find it difficult to watch these types of friendlies but as an Englishman in Iceland I paid a little more attention to this one... I'll say it quietly but Áfram Ísland

Argentina lost a competitive game in the group at the world cup to Saudi Arabia who are less than twenty places above Iceland in the rankings.
They also won the tournament.
