Ok, you are ready for a new season at Shrewsbury, then, probably the best opportunity of your playing career knocks. But you say, no,no, I can't, I might derail Town's season? He deserved the opportunity, he was immense and I expected him to go all summer. It was the way he went that I have an issue with. What was it exactly you had an issue with?

With Toto, Sraha, Benning, Pierre (if he signs) and Feeney on the books it's a solid start. We just need 1 maybe 2 RB and we should be sorted. Let's not forget that all being well we should also have George Nurse back and boy does he deserve some luck.

Not exactly blown away but doubt going to be with any signing this summer. He's a decent defender on his day, and since leaving hasn't dropped below league one level at any point. Fair few defenders on the books now - 3 CBs and 2 LBs. But feel like the sitting midfielder in front of the defence is going to be need to be a very good player. Godfrey and Ogogo last time helped out the defence an awful lot. Winchester looked ok at times last season, but he needs a very accomplished player next to him If Pierre re-signs, it'll be the two right backs and that's it I imagine for defenders. If we don't sign a holding midfielder who can cover there we may sign a fifth centre back, but I think that'd only be a very cheap option

Toto with either Feeney or Sraha with Benning on the left and someone decent to sign on the right, is a decent back four. Its a good start in my opinion. Hmm not sure, for league 2 definitely but with the standard expected next year I think describing that as good is worrying

I thought this would happen and lets hope Toto can discover the form he had under Hurst before - some players just click with one manager.

Honestly, I'd go without an attacking option just to have two proper right backs. The last couple of years, we've had Taylor Moore, Pyke, Feeney & Winchester all play out of position there as we've gambled and found ourself short. It kills our attacking ability down that side more than the absence of a proper Winger does.

I agree I'd like to see more options in defence, but I'm wondering if Hurst will operate with a small squad.
Wasn't it the guy Jai Lowe the right back that was linked? - I don't think he's signed for anyone yet.

With a defence potentially consisting of Benning, Pierre and Toto, I'm guessing the philosophy of signing youthful players that will make us money in the future has been put on hold! Ignoring my sarcasm, signings like this are the reality of our situation and we are just hoping that Hurst can somehow re-discover the Toto from 6 years ago. I'm guessing signings like this mean that no takeover is on the horizon to be fair, i understand your first point - but given the standard of opponents and their resources we are up against next season it's going to be a case of getting a more experienced reliable defence particularly!

When he signed last time we didn’t expect much but Hurst and Doig turned him into a £1m player. He knows what to expect, manger knows what he’s getting…… solid signing imo

As Dave Edwards said in his column... You need a bit of experience....dunkleys gone,so in comes toto🤷🤷good signing in my opinion...also got benning and Winchester as experienced players.....more young ones needed now... especially in in midfield and attack...get the 5 loans in,and we should be up to speed,or not far off👍👍

I wonder how James Bolton is doing these days up at St Mirren. Someone of his ilk would be good. Solid and doesn’t make mistakes - but with a better injury record!

Good solid signing. I think Mickey Moore has now become nothing more than chief negotiator.
Oh and did anyone see the Wales result?

Given the signings so far, and the need for a right back I wouldnt be surprised to see Josh Emmanuel sign. Got links to town and Hurst

Good signing for a Hurst team.
A handful at set pieces at both ends of the field.
We don't need a ball playing centre back, especially one who is going to muck about with it and get caught.
Benning was on the fringe at a rubbish Vale. Toto being on the fringe at a rubbish Fleetwood doesn't tell you much.

Gotta admit, starting next season looking like Toto and Pierre being our first choice centre back pairing was not on my bingo card.
Should provide some entertainment anyway.

Dunno about that....Hurst might get a younger centre back on loan from prem or championship 🤔🤔

I can't see toto and Pierre playing together......unless Pierre gets himself a lot fitter and sharper....under hursts fitness regime...that could happen

Great to see us busy in the transfer market so soon into the summer but first impressions is that Hurst really is going to have to weave some magic next season.

Feels like both have their hand on the tiller, I'm very pleased a replacement has been found almost instantly and I suspect the same has been done for the other two maybes as well.
Hearing of a few more to come in soon according to mates, lots of rumours flying around but they're names which fit the hurst bill. And remember back to the recruitment of 17/18. None of them were that impressive.

Hope so.....if Pierre doesn't know what hursts fitness regime is like.....he soon will do!!👍👍 Saying that Pierre hasn’t even signed! I saw on socials he isn’t on holiday which often delays deals around this time of year. Could he be keeping his options open or unhappy with initial offer?

Think it's great that PH has brought in a replacement as soon as Dunkley had decided to move on. That hasnt just happened, it will have been the plan for a while.
Hope and expect he will have replacements already lined up for Marosi and Udoh should they too decide to go as well. And other new recruits for those who werent retained.
We might be shopping at Home Bargains this summer but it's good to plan your purchases in advance.
