I remember a 20 year old trying to buy them, couldn't show anyone any money, and looked to me like nothing but a potential money launderer seeing an opportunity to wash dirty money , the is a thread on it but unfortunately it quickly depended into the usual discussion about our own chairman instead

Sad Times, they must be in a big hole to make that public

Sadly this is going to happen more and more often. I go on regularly about clubs who are just not big enough to in reality become FL clubs, Morecambe were just one like that only about 10/12 (??) years ago. They get up into the FL and cannot sustain it. They have done well to be there for as long as they have. They have lasted longer than the likes of Sutton and FGR, and will probably be followed back down eventually by the likes of Harrogate, Bromley, Fleetwood.
These clubs dont bring enough into the FL for me.
There are loads of clubs throwing money at getting into the FL but no real support to be able to sustain it long term once the initial enthusiasm wears off. I give you Rushden as a prime example.

At least they are keeping their fans in the picture. I presume if it all goes wrong they are preparing the fans so that it won’t come as a shock.
I find it all very worrying for lower league football.

Very sad for genuine football supporters especially when you see the amount of money that there is in the premiership and money wasted on supposed improvements to the game like VAR. Having said that some of the people now buying football clubs at lower league level with little or no football knowledge are responsible and shouldnt be bailed out.

Morecambe's owner, Jason Whittingham, has already been responsible for Worcester Warriors Rugby Club having to close down.

Let the authorities decide.
There could do with being some sort of impetus in the leagues just below the efl. In the same way that TNS finds they don't want to leave the benefits associated with their league. Surprised one of the lesser TV stations (BBC sports dept.these days) doesn't telivise non league matches like S4C do.
Rather than, but I suppose as well as the Prem B teams because of the authorities, I'd like to see non league teams having a way to access playing in the Johnsons paint/Papa Johns, whatever it is next season trophy rounds.

I recall reading something about Tyson Fury buying Morecambe FC years ago. Be a good retirement present to himself. I think he lives around there or thereabouts.

I guess a crucial difference between Morecambe and us is that they actually have a board of directors.

Interesting that a club in a league below us, averaging less than us, making losses, have debt and in complete turmoil, can still attract a serious offer from a credible buyer.

What they class as “credible” may not be remotely attractive to our current owner. For starters, do they own their stadium? Apparently, the fenced off 3G pitches adjacent to the stadium are wholly owned by Tyson Fury.
