Oh for the good old days I get every impression from a few posters that one is not really permitted to express such hope - only to exult and celebrate "survival"....

Oh indeed. Had forgotten about the significance of the date (even though that date is indelibly tattooed in my brain)

Oh indeed. Had forgotten about the significance of the date (even though that date is indelibly tattooed in my brain) One of those I was there events. Will live long in my memory. Looking back I've forgotten how tight it was at the top of the table going into that final game. We needed a point to guarantee promotion and two to win the league.

A day I will never forget. And two goals scored from our hallmark near post corner routine with brilliant view from the old Wing Stand. A perfect day.

In the old wing stand. Memories of complete silence when Exeter scored and all Town players laughing for the last Couple of minutes of the game when seeing it out. A great evening

Looking back I've forgotten how tight it was at the top of the table going into that final game. We needed a point to guarantee promotion and two to win the league. We finished as Champions BUT…… this was still in the 2points for a win days, shortly before this changed to 3 points per win. If the 3 pts for win was in place then, Town would have finished 4th and missed out on promotion!

I remember it well. I was living in a village called Hartshead then. I heard the result and took the dog up to the rec behind the house. I then ran around the football pitch, screaming and shouting for about 20 minutes. The dog thought it was great. Not so much my neighbours Though. Comments were made!

In the old wing stand. Memories of complete silence when Exeter scored and all Town players laughing for the last Couple of minutes of the game when seeing it out. A great evening As I have related before, my group didn't celebrate the near-post corner goal, but laughed at the near inevitability of it.....a great night, the match ending with the referee ushering all the players towards the tunnel when he was about to blow the final whistle!
