This is a warning for anyone who ever wants to be or is asked to be a moderator on this board, think long and hard as to what you are getting yourself into. Four mods (myself included) are accused of dishing out s**t. Not one mod, or two but four, yes four. Are all four mods in the wrong? I will leave you to draw your own conclusions. Perhaps we can start a poll. Were all 4 mods wrong. No poll please!

May and early June as town supporters are always quiet with little happening on the transfer front but sadly probably due to the boredom it does tend to bring out the worst in some people who are just looking for an argument to pass the time. I find this board very informative and entertaining for about ten months of the year but just for a few weeks it does tend to let itself down sadly.

Perhaps we can start a poll. Were all 4 mods wrong. No poll please! Of course we're "wrong": our "leader" has thus decided, in the finest display of rank authoritarianism yet seen on the Board.

Embarrassingβ¦.if 4 mods are dishing out s**t your way perhaps you should ask yourself why? My mistake folks was pointing out we had money coming from staged payments for CG but mentioned the transfere to Glasgow but that was the following year and the money was coming from Brighton, oh and Brentford probablyβ¦β¦. I humbly apologise. (Wasnβt going to bother as Throb pointed out what I meant) This is a warning for anyone who ever wants to be or is asked to be a moderator on this board, think long and hard as to what you are getting yourself into. Four mods (myself included) are accused of dishing out s**t. Not one mod, or two but four, yes four. Are all four mods in the wrong? I will leave you to draw your own conclusions. please go ahead and explain what was wrong with the post that kicked all this off then feedo have a pop at certain town fans for the way they support the club ( even though no one has even said that ) I then asked the question of why is it ok for some to criticise fellow town fans for the way they support the club but if anyone dares challenge them for being against those fans all hell breaks out I merely asked a question, called no one any names Itβs a culture and belief that far too many of our fans also hold - that weβre succeeding by merely existing. amazing how on most threads we have so called town fans constantly criticising the club and slating any town fans who dare to stay positive . and yet mention the 'anti town fan' phrase and there is hell to play ;-) and 3 days of hell breaking out later I rest my case

I genuinely believe that surviving at league one level should be seen as success for Shrewsbury Town in the current climate of football with our current ownership.
Others will disagree.
I am not remotely offended by Feedo's post. Many town fans do think "this is it" except maybe an occasional outlier season or a cup run. Of course we can all dream, but the reality is the target for every season is 50 points and then we'll what happens.

Certainly wasnβt supposed to be offensive to fellow fans (and I think everyone apart from one appreciates that), was merely expanding on the point armchairfan had made about Hurstβs comments. Wherever weβre at as a club theyβve done a great job at managing expectation! To the extent Iβd probably take 20th place for next season if offered it now, especially if there was no prospect of a sale.

I totally agree Dave and i'm not upset either by his comments, but I thought being a mod I'd ask the question why it seems ok for some to criticise fans on here if they cant handle being asked why they are anti towards those fans I mean who on here thinks they are a better supporter than others ? hands up

I genuinely believe that surviving at league one level should be seen as success for Shrewsbury Town in the current climate of football with our current ownership. For me its about what might be achieved with new ownership and/or new investments; what difference that could make so that those occasional outlier seasons you mention aren't happening once every ten years (which is where we are now). We seem to be set at 17th/18th at this level now so you could argue the foundations are in place to push on again. Yet under the current ownership that looks beyond us. I just wonder what could be gained with some fresh impetus and what could be wasted without it...π

Its one thing to talk about the fanbase having such aspirations but that's secondary by a country mile if the same mentality is to be found within the club. Hurst has clearly picked up on something anyhow by the looks. I mean in that interview he said he had previously discussed the culture within the club and he felt the need to address it again there. Something along the lines of "There is an acceptance that we're going to finish near the bottom and that's OK". He says that has got to change. But I doubt that's come as a surprise to an awful lot of fans considering what we are seeing, for the main, season after season. It just seems indicative to where we now find ourselves.

I am of the opinion that never let comparisons be a substitute for standards. Least worse is never enough.
So if we compare us to an equal size club just being better than them is not good enough.
Much as it irks me (not a fan of Mr Hurst)I think he has the plan in hand

Don't expect a lot this season and if it turns out to be a real struggle then we did tell you after all.

It will all depend on who we can get in. How they settle, how they gel as a team, how far they commit to our cause, etc., etc.
Yes it will be hard but I can wait until November/December before really beginning to become too pessimistic.
I donβt think we will set the world on fire but if we get a team of fighters who care then all may not be lost.

Difference is we hadnβt got a manager 12 months ago and had just employed a DoF to start from scratch. Little pre season preparation so all done in a bit of a panic. This season managers in place and DoFs had 12 months to do what he does identigems we can get cheap and bring on. Pre season with be much better prepared with a tough set of pre season friendlies. Budget aside wer in a much better position preparation wise, or we should be. π€π€π€π€π€π€π€π€π€
