He wins record third win. By any measure London is a mess, Knife crime Crime Infrastructure issues Lack of social housing Lack of rental property
During his time in office London has just turned into a dump. So how on earth has he won yet again.

So how on earth has he won yet again. More people voted for him than the other candidates? I go to London pretty regularly and don’t see it being any different to the last 20 years or so. There is great wealth differences and very poor areas but that’s been ever so really I take the point the Mayor isn’t universally popular but London is still be far and away out performing the rest of the UK economically and its crime stats are actually better than a lot of other areas. Not quite sure how the Conservatives picked their candidate either as she seemed very poor media wise - and short on ideas too. An Andy Street centralist candidate there would have performed much better.

Terrible opposition candidate Awful / non existent opposition campaign Mass voter apathy / low turnout I feel sorry for native Londoners having to endure years more of this poisoned dwarfs ruinous policies

Think a lot comes down to the old saying "its the economy stupid" - when an economy is doing well people are far more likely to vote for the status quo. Despite suggestions London is a mess, its economic growth levels are around 1% higher than the UK as a whole and in some cases 2% higher than over regions of the UK. Greater London contributes 40% of the UK's overall GP and new external investment in the city is well above the rest of the uk. There is great wealth disparity in London, but generally most people in work in London are better off than those in the rest of the UK and thats always a big factor in elections. Think the Conservatives strategy of painting a bleak picture of life in London, didn't really match up with a lot of peoples real life experiece where they are actually doing ok, and thats always a risky strategy. Thinks its something Labour seem to be grasping in the national picture too. Where as the Corbyn led labour party kind of gave the impression being economically successful and doing well was something to be attacked, Starmer is very much adopting the stance that having a good job and decent aspirations economcially is something Labour supports and will be less likely to hinder. Of course that doesn't always play well with the old left labour supporters, but sells much better to the middle ground where most voters tend to sit, and probably explains why economically successful voters in London stuck with Labour rather than returning to the Conservatives
