This is from Feb 23 to Feb 24, not surprisingly we are one of the lowest in the league. The Fleetwood figure is a shocker, also some interesting figures for so called cash strapped clubs

The Premier League paid three times more on agent fees than they did on the Football League soliditary payment

Interesting that we are the most prudent on that list but how I wonder does that affect our ability to attract new players in the future. Something I think we all agree we are going to need after the summer’s clear out.
Perhaps that explains the sudden interest in the Irish Leagues.

The average is £218k per club. Our £79k was about 1.5% of the total. Certainly very prudent - and sensible, given the size of those 2023 losses. I was (and am) very critical of the club's leadership for allowing those losses to have happened, but credit is due for this.

But it’s been a long time since we’ve been second in any league so I’ll take that as a win😉 Agree with your comments though, looks like we have done well there and probably something to thank Caldwell for.

Looking at the other leagues, I see Wrexham spent £347K and Forest Green £266k, crazy sums

You've missed Cheltenham too who are lower than town. Fleetwoods is ridiculous considering where they are in the league. Wigans is nearly the highest which I find intriguing considering theyve barely signed anyone. Loan players clearly attract agents fees too. As much as it is admirable and understandabky financially prudent to spend less on agents fees, it could just be another metric to show that town are just a league two club overachieving to keep remaining in league one. 12 clubs in league two spent more than town this season, obviously led by the utterly absurd Wrexham spend of £347k, and FGR not too far behind. But I would imagine town may struggle to recruit some players if even the likes of Harrogate, Gillingham and Colchester are paying more to agents

This is from Feb 2023 so Caldwell would have been gone really by the time agents fees were involved. This is more to do with the new regime really. That said, the number this year is fairly similar to the previous 2 years (although still less this time).

What can clubs do though? I mean it appears to be very much part of the game today and looking to those sums then clearly for players playing at every level. If players are picking up agents and insist that clubs deal with them rather than the player directly then what else can a club do? I mean its good in a way to see Town a fair way down that list but that might be more down to the fact that we have hardly been busy in the transfer market recently.
