inews.co.uk/opinion/rishi-sunak-manic-laughter-doom-2988526#:~:text=Sunak%20laughed. An interesting insight into Sunak's character. 'Any Tory official watching will have learned to dread the election. They will have had dark, sobering thoughts about what their man will be like on the campaign trail in the daily white heat of the media spotlight, coming into constant contact with voters. We see three things from him: mock laughter and smiles, which are untrustworthy. Meaningless self-serving rhetoric, which is without value. And tetchy, barely concealed irritation, which seems to suggest something about his true character. He is a media disaster zone, a worst-case candidate whose failings are so extensive that only his predecessor looks bad in comparison. He doesn’t seem to think there’s anything to learn from conversations with the people he meets. He has no interest in the public. That tetchiness we see when the laughter fades – that’s not just frustration. It’s disdain'.

Maybe the memory has dimmed, but looking at how the Tory party's chances have dipped, might it have been better for Boris, Captain Chutzpah, to have defied all the Partygate failings and simply called an election with him still at the helm?

When he became Tory leader; Sunak was the antidote to Liz Truss; competence and fiscal responsibility. For a while, he was the drivers’ champion and the net zero realist. He has dabbled a bit with being anti-woke. Last autumn, for several weeks, he had a sustained and serious attempt to claim he would be the change candidate at the general election (a move that failed because it was wholly implausible). More recently he has been the person “sticking to the plan”. And today he is going to present himself as the leader best able to keep people “safe and secure” in a dangerous world.

I have a horrible feeling that the GE will be much closer than current polls suggest.

The more we learn about Stammer and his lack of integrity and principles I also take the view that the Labour majority will be a lot less than many people think.
I for one will never voted for a party that has Natalie Elphicke as an MP

Trouble is that hardly any of them in any party have integrity and principles - they went out the window years ago.
I was feeling quite chipper this morning until Sunak started. Now I’m back to square one.
