I heard the sad news today that Ron Morgan, who posted as Shrewblue has died. I knew that Ron had been ill with cancer for several years but learning of the death of a good person always comes as a shock.
I knew Ron from the Shropshire Shufflers running club, he was a founder member and a leading light. A fond memory is of him running around the Quarry in a heavy overcoat because he was training for a hot weather marathon.
RIP Ron.

That is sad news. A good old Meole Estate lad was Ron, decent amateur player and a staunch Town fan. R.I.P.

I grew up two doors down from Ron on Meole Estate. Like many of our generation, in winter we would kick a ball around till we could no longer see it and in summer we’d play cricket on the rec by the junior school. His mum quite a few of us from the estate to matches back then. Great memories. He was a lovely guy and a staunch Town supporter. As well as founding the Shufflers, as mentioned in a previous post, he did an awful lot of fundraising for charities. We’ve lost a lovely guy.

I’d forgotten about his mum taking kids to the games, she never missed game, that’s where Ron got his love of the club from

I can add a mention on his profile. ( more for further down the line ) had a quick look, this was his final post and a nice one too Huge thank you to Jayne and the Chairman for the wonderful support and kindness they have shown me over the years especially the last couple of years may God Bless them!It has been a tough arduous time but with their good will it has really helped me his 2 posts prior to that were concerns about the king announcing he has cancer I was actually the last member he mentioned, didn't realise that until I looked at his posts, he was upset at not winning match tickets in a raffle back in December bless him , he kind of laughed it off when I informed him it was a raffle ;-) before that he gave his best wishes to matt Ashton, early October his posted his worry about the head coach was sleepwalking us to relegation, going back, he was back here in 2004 looked at his first ever post, he discusses Jimmy Quinn but also in the post he suggests we need to offload Dunbavin & Gregor Rioch, ( he knew his stuff this guy ) he started about 150 threads, if anyone wants to remind themselves of what they were blueandamber.proboards.com/user/627/recent_threadsoverall, a nice easy going polite guy, always concerned about others, and a sad loss, hopefully someone close to him can contact the club towards the end of the year to get Rons name added to the scoreboard

I don’t know when Ron died, I learned the sad news from my daughter who is planning to visit Shrewsbury soon to participate in the Shrewsbury park run. She read about Ron when she was looking for information about the run.
She is keen to run in Shrewsbury because of fond memories the 1980s when 3 generations of our family joined in with the Shufflers for Sunday morning jogging in the Quarry.
The whole thing thanks to Ron and his vision of an inclusive, welcoming club for all standards of runner.

RIP Ron. I had been friends with Ron since primary school and remember the cricket matches Ian refers to. Village v Estate. Ron always had time for people and loved to talk about the Town.

I've only just seen this. I'm in floods of tears. Ron and I have been in contact for about 3 and a half years. He knew I was going through a rough time and was a constant source of encouragement to me. The fact he was suffering as well never seemed to occur to him. He only seemed to care about others, his family and friends.
I can't even begin to tell you how much comfort he gave me when I was at my worst. I've had times of dispair when I'd look at b&a and there would be a message from my good friend Ron.
RIP to a wonderful human being.
Thank you for everything, Ron, I'll never forget your kindness,
John Thomas. xxx

Horrible news
I knew Ron through my Dad as he helped me purchase a house in Florida 17 years ago. Before Xmas I was messaging him as we are looking to sell and he put me in touch with some people he knew. He also said it would be good to have a catch up at some point and invited me to the Sovereign Club for a game. I've just come back from the States and planned to contact him this week to arrange something.
He was a really lovely man and even though he has had a difficult number of years, his passion for all things STFC never changed.
RIP Ron
