Ok our next opponents are Oxford United albeit at our own ground.
They moved from their spiritual home the Manor Ground over 20 years ago now. Did any of you watch Town play here, what are your memories of the ground?

My biggest memory and probably the only time I visited was watching Town in this game. A win for Oxford would guarantee promotion to the old First division.
For me it was a celebration despite the defeat - it was my final ground as I joined the '92 club'. Was great to have visited all the old grounds before they got changed forever.

I liked The Manor Ground. Reminded me of The Meadow. And certainly a more atmospheric ground to watch football at than the Kassan Stadium (?)
Although to be fair the exact same thing could be said of us and our respective grounds.

I was there as well with two Oxford supporting friends. I remember walking past Robert Maxwell's personally numbered Rolls Royce after their (our) celebratory pitch invasion at the final whistle.

I have a mate who was on town books and away to Oxford was the closest he came to playing , I think it was when 2 Subs were allowed , he travelled as one of 3 subs but was the one left out , he remembers maxwell with a bottle of champagne so it could have been a promotion from them that game so likely the one above

Only one sub that season, 87/8 seems to be the first season of two subs.

I was at the Oxford promotion game and have very little memory of it other than they won and the ground seemed like it was in Burslem.

Went to the FA Cup replay in 1999 - lost 2-1 after extra time. They scored the winner in the last minute or so if I recall correctly.

Went early 90’s and lost 4-1, when Dean Saunders gave our static defenders - Doug Rougvie and David Moyes - the runaround for 90 mins. Moyes did score our goal though I think.
