Great to see that the ancient and redoubtable side from north of the border - The New Saints, will be battling it out tomorrow afternoon with Airdrieonians for Scottish supremacy.
Perhaps STFC should apply to take part in a foreign cup competition...maybe Moldova, or perhaps Luxembourg. It might be an opportunity to bring back some long overdue silverware to the Meadow.

Great to see that the ancient and redoubtable side from north off the border - The New Saints, will be battling it out this afternoon with Airdrieonians for Scottish supremacy. Perhaps STFC should apply to take part in a foreign cup competition...maybe Moldova, or perhaps Luxembourg. It might be an opportunity to bring back some long overdue silverware to the Meadow. That match up is about as daft as when Sheffield Wednesday were invited to play in the Shropshire Senior Cup!

We did, the Welsh Cup. That's true. It has however been many years since we participated. Did we decline to take part, or were we uninvited?

Back in the days of Ian McNeil and following us being kicked out after playing on loan Ron Green in goal. He was eligible to play in the FL for us but the Welsh version of being registered was different. McNail being Scottish thought it was unnecessary games so we didnt enter the following season.

Wouldn't be allowed to enter now,you have to be affiliated to the Cymru FA and be a part of their league system. Back on topic, good luck TNS I hope they win it.The Scottish FA have been good enough to invite Welsh and Northern Irish teams into the tournament for several years now so it would be good if one of them won it

Connah's Quay reached the final a few years ago played at Inverness Caley Thistle. At least this one is at Falkirk. Did go and watch a game-Connah's Quay v Cove Rangers the year after their final. Impressed that Cove brought a coach load of support all the way from close to Aberdeen and all to no avail as they lost

They included 2 teams from the National League, guess that stopped?

Both losing to Rangers Under 21s. Sutton United played 2 rounds involving a total of round trips of 1800 miles to Ireland and Scotland. The National League were not invited after there was a Covid gap year.

Out of interest was it the Wrexham U21 / reserves that played? I believe the tournament is a sort of equivalent to our Pizza Cup, ie for lower league sides only but spiced up by inviting teams from elsewhere

TNS one up and looking good ! Seems TNS have done a Wrexham and given their 200 fans a green and white bar scarf each. Airdrieonians are a very physical team

Yep despite the defeat Josh had a good game, hit the post with a header as well Seemed to be quite a big crowd which must have spooked TNS as they're not used to crowds😁😁.. enjoyable game

I believe the tournament is a sort of equivalent to our Pizza Cup, ie for lower league sides only but spiced up by inviting teams from elsewhere It would have been their first team as they were a National League invited side. The Scottish Challenge cup includes Premier League B teams(as they are called but could be the same as those that play in the Lowland League as Under 21s). The competition includes also other teams from the Highland and Lowland Leagues
