A game we should win if you listen to most people but the reality is our home form is dire and whilst Carlisle look dead & buried, recent results show their games have been close. I'm certainly not expecting an easy victory but we will never get a better chance to end our terrible home form You've got the added bit of spice with Feeney playing against his old side and the return (again) of Vela for Carlisle although I think he's missed the last few games with injury. I'd expect our side will pick itself again, only question being who comes in for Shipley if he is suspended Edit - Unlikely to get the chance to wish Vela good luck in L2 next season www.newsandstar.co.uk/sport/24181135.carlisle-united-midfielder-josh-velas-season/

Won’t be easy, they’ve taken lead in last 2 games at Charlton and home to Barnsley before losing both 3-2.

Yeah, a game we should win but Tuesday was a very good reminder as to why you can't take such things for granted. But leaving Tuesday aside, we have shown enough against Reading and Vale to suggest we can get a positive result. I guess it will be Hinchy who will step in for Shipley; which shows what a loss he is, how thin of the ground we are and I guess why we thought Price is worth a punt (even if not fully fit).
Have we appealed the red from Tuesday? Is that official?

Sounds like we might need a bit of Bournemouth's comeback spirit injected.
The tea leaves tell me Shrewsbury 0 - Carlisle 4 at Half Time. A spirited comeback and Shrewsbury 5 - Carlisle 4 Full Time.
But I don't think tea bags work as well as the leaf tea.....

This game will answer a few questions about the mental strength of our players after the poor performance on Tuesday - we need a massive reaction from them but let us supporters play our part, keep the faith and turn up in numbers and raise the roof to give the players every chance to secure a vital three points.

Think we’re under pressure both as fans and the club at all levels. It wasn’t PHs intention to sign Jack Price so quickly after his Tuesday statement about discussions in the future, no doubt bought forward due to the capitulation against Exeter. PH said we’re appealing the red but we’ve heard nothing yet, still time 🤞
You feel we should have enough against the bottom team, 11 points from safety but they did beat Burton away

This won’t be half as easy as it should be based on the points totals, and if Carlisle go ahead I think we could see the first signs of dissent in the Hurst reign. For the majority of our fans that don’t go away and only watch the home games they haven’t seen us win, or play particularly well, in months now.
Marosi
Feeney - Dunkley - Flanagan - Benning
Perry - Winchester - Bayliss
Bloxham - Udoh - O’Brien
Subs: Burgoyne, Sraha, Bennett, Price, Hinchey, Sobowale, Bowman
In the stands: Idowu, Anderson, Tulloch, Kenneh, Shipley, Nurse, Pierre
If Shipley is available I’d play him over O’Brien and O’Brien replaces Bennett on the bench.
Score prediction: 1-1

The Great Escape 2? Just when you thought it was safe. Thrill to the spirit our team show. Be amazed by the tactical genius of Hurst. And watch out for the supporting roles from our fringe players.

I'd serious think about starting O'Brien for this one especially if Shipley is unavailable.
A game for steady heads, I'd consider starting Flanagan and Bennett as well, even if they last 60 minutes, the new guy Price could replace Bennett.

This is exactly the type of game that we need to win to save us a whole load of stress come April. This is the time of season where you start seeing strange results, so perhaps a home win!?!

A win wont guarantee safety, but it will take an awful lot of pressure off the last few games. 44 points with 7 (??) left to play and hopefully only the 1 place left to be overly concerned with.
Experience is the key here for me so Flanagan, Bennett should be in for as long as they can keep going for.

Our home form is dire, what was really concerning about Tuesday game was the lack of fighting spirit shown by the team considering how precarious our position is. We all know how unfit our team is and is not helped by our poor ball retention and distribution.
If we are to get the win we so badly need we must make a huge improvement, do the basics well and score first to settle the nerves.

Start well and keep everyone on the pitch after more than 5 minutes and I think it will be okay.

I'd go for something like this :
Marosi
Feeney Dunkley Flanagan Benning
Winchester
Bennett Bayliss
Bloxham O'Brien Udoh
Subs: Burgoyne Sraha Price Hinchy Kennah Sobowale Bowman

I'm hoping that because of the manner of our defeat against Exeter with everything going wrong that could go wrong, it puts the players in determined mood to right the wrongs of Tuesday. If we'd have drawn the Exeter game, I'd be worried about this one having 0-1 written all over it. As it is, I think we'll take the game to Carlisle and win 2-0.
The likely absence of Shipley (straight red - 3 games out?) means Hurst will have to decide between O'Brien, Tulloch and Sobowale. For me, I'd play Tulloch - he's definitely got something to prove and will want to impress. Not sure about sticking Flanagan in for Sraha - I'd be inclined to stick with Sraha. Price on the bench I assume.
Strangely looking forward to this one.

I know what you mean, I question the logic of going to the game but strangely wonder what sort of reaction there will be. The added spice of Paul Simpson as well and that Carlisle are rock bottom.

It's going to be a nervy old afternoon, I don't expect a classic but if we can scrape 3 points I'll be more than happy.
I'm just hoping that we get an early goal to settle the nerves.

How many times have we won when the ball arrives by helicopter? I only ask because it’s Armed Forces Day on Saturday.

Ah is this the game that the helicopter brings the ball. Worthy of the admission price alone.
I seem to recall the helicopter arriving before a Rochdale game lost 0-1, Cansdell-Sherriff rugby tackled a Rochdale forward on the halfway line and was given a straight red. Simpson was the manager and then slated him on the radio afterwards.
Funny old game.

I wonder if he might play a midfield 3 of Perry, Winchester and Hinchy and shift Bayliss into Shipleys position. Or bring in Sobowale and go more of 3421 like they had against Blackpool.
But maybe as it's Carlisle it will be O'Brien or Tulloch as a straight swap

None of those three have a contract in place cum July, and none of them probably will have if they don't do more than they are doing at present Price only on the bench if registered which may not be the case.

This game will not be easy. The day's of playing against player's with nothing to play for are long gone. Intact this game is the opposite. Alot of these player's are out of contract soon and will be full throttle physically and mentally for a new deal, even for another club. I'll go for a nervy one all draw and I'd play O'brien from the start.
