I’m wanting to buy a newer used car, and wondering if anyone has an experience of buying through Cinch, and indeed trading in their old car?
Any experiences good or bad?

My Step sons bought and sold through Cinch without any problem.
The last car I bought without seeing just based on the specification of the car. Bought off a main dealer but through autotrader.
Didn't trade in my old car a 2016 Skoda Superb Estate 90k. Tried WeBuy Anycar offered £8400. Used Motorway who offered £9,800 which when collected was only reduced by £50 due to a worn rubber door seal. Vey quick and easy deal.

My current car was on cinch. Pick up option rather than home delivery. All done within 10 mins, everything was top notch to be fair. Even managed to get extra discount as they mailed another email address I had with an offer, so worth looking out for those.
Always a risk buying blind, but it's in their interest not to sell you dud motors and they certainly seem to dominate on price and stock.

My understanding is that Cinch is a subsidiary of British Car Auctions so the choice should be good. After that it is down to customer service. Can they better the best of the local independents?

Thankfully one of the Dealers in Shrewsbury had a similar one in stock so test drove that to make sure I was happy with the car and then a punt finding one through Auto Trader. Bought it from somewhere in Yorkshire and they fetched it down for a delivery cost circa £200. i think when you buy a newish car, the risk is far less than if you were looking at say a 10 year old car, and you may want to see a car of that age up close, but for all the cars the likes of Cinch etc sell they should be absolutely ok, and you have 7 days grace too.

Who also own We Buy Any Car. I’d imagine the buying power of BCA is better than most local independents who likely also get their cars from the same source. (BCA is now part of a European group based in Luxembourg.)

Do the car auctions still take place at Prees Heath?
My dad used to be a regular visitor to it in the past as he used to bring second hand cars from the garage in Tywyn for auction.
I went with him once and ended up buying a blue Triumph Spitfire. It turned out to be a good runner too!

A thought that comes to my mind is if BCA are syphoning off the best cars to sell via Cinch then does that mean the cars that they sell by auction are either older or a little more dubious?

Higher milage fleet cars mainly, they used to specialise in high value private sales but that might have been special ‘classic’ auctions.

Press Heath used to sell a lot of reps cars, only 2 years old say, but with 60,000 on the clock.
They'd always have a new set of tyres, still in warranty and had about 5 services though! 👍

I found if you want low milage it's through a main dealer, my 4 year old had only done 24k but paid £2k more than through cinch for similar car with much higher milage. I'll get it back when I resell hopefully but I've done 15k since August so around 25k a year and I'm retired... Always sell on before 90k so 3/4 years as opposed to 2 if I bought high milage.

Sadly no, living by the seaside at the time played havoc with the body work and sub frame and although the engine was sound the rest of it became a rust bucket.
