There was a very different connection between players and supporters in those days. Most were on contracts and lived in the town. I rented a flat to Tommy Lynch and his wife in Castlefields and they really made the town their home. They were a delight. Real Irish Salopians. Most town players nowadays only know the road in and out. Not their fault I know but it used to be great to see the town players around town.

I treasured those end of season compilation videos I think I still have mine someplace down the keller. I had no idea they were available on the Town YouTube site (all four of them). Here is the first of them...👍

It was a great night, from the very start Mike and I were fortunate to be helping look after the players pre the event so gathered them and their guests in the Arthur Rowley.
Straight away you could see the togetherness even though some hadn’t met for 30 years. There was also plenty of banter flying around as I’m sure you could imagine, as Tommy Lynch called it “Industrial language”. We do have some photos but need to catch up with the Media guys about putting some out for everyone to see.
There is a little video of Chris Withe doing his goal celebration, if we need a comedian for an event then he’s our man, very funny guy. Had a good chat with Tommy, Paul Evans and Carl too.
There will be a few at the game today, Tommy, Deano, O’Neil Donaldson, Mark Taylor, Tim Clarke, Kev Summerfield and of course Sir Mickey Brown. The plan is to introduce them to fans at half time and even maybe get one of them to do dizzy penalties.
It’s been a pleasure organising this event, the response was more than I expected and all 14 players who said they would come turned up. There were some who could not make it due to availability and some for personal reasons which would not be right to go into.

I’ve got a nice team photo of them all together along with them chairman Ray Bailey who I have to say was a pleasure to speak to and again the bond between players and the chairman was there for all to see.

A big shout out to Ryan Jervis for compèring and to Stuart Dunn who conducted the interviews. I know how much work Stuart put into this with his research and compiling questions and pairing the guys up together.
Final thank you to Mike Jones who donated 30 of his Maestros & Misfits book to the players and club.
Thanks to anyone on here who attended, so here’s a question then. When we do future events(and we will) who should we have as guests?

It's possible in celebrating this event that we have overlooked the fact that its 20 years this year that we won the play off shoot out at Stoke to get our place back in the FL. We didnt win the league but it's a huge achievement that should be celebrated I'd say.

Just caught a glimpse of a young stuttgartershrew up on the fences shaking hands with the players after that away win at Sc***horpe. No doubt with is head full of dreams of the successes to come. But just to say the full 90 minutes of that match is also available to watch on the Town YouTube site. Again, great memories.👍

so here’s a question then. When we do future events(and we will) who should we have as guests? Probably too early yet, but The team who played the last season at GM, I know we didn't achieve anything, but I guess its more of a sentimental thought for me ... maybe the 20th anniversary or something. Stoke is also a very good shout How about an evening with Kevin Ratcliffe and Dave Fogg?

I'm amazed than no contact could be made with Clarke and Walton. Neither were just players for us, both played for other bigger clubs too. Not knocking anyone, just amazed they seem to have dissappeared. I did try and help contact Walton by messaging a mate who was a mate of Daves but no luck there Didn't Walton live in the Shrewsbury area after he finished playing?

Are there any photos, videos, etc? A few pics on social media: Looks like a good event, well done to the organisers. My first ever game was Doncaster at home in the 93/94 season. Was great hearing Tommy Lynch on the radio earlier. Can anyone identify L-R all the people in this photo? I've got most of them but I have no idea who the bald chap with the goatie is?

How smart Mickey Brown looked was the first thing I commented on. A great advert for the club. Having said that though, they are all a great credit to themselves and us. Truly professional who gave their all during that season. A far cry from now I’m afraid.

A few came along to the game yesterday, we them over into Smithy’s and they all thought it was brilliant.
Had some time to chat to them more, Tommy I speak to from time to time anyway, he’s a true gent and when he says he loves Shrewsbury he really means it.
Mark Taylor and O’Neil Donaldson too are great lads, loved their time here. Mark turning up on a Friday night with an away shirt and getting the lads to sign it was a statement of his fondness of the club too.
Mickey as we know will always be a legend in many of our eyes, a great guy too.
