Ok next up game is at Lincoln. They still play at the same ground as they have for many years but its changed hugely since I first watched the Town there.
Think I went in the John Bond 'failure' season of 1993. Stood on the the open bank side of terracing watching Carl Griffiths have a superb overhead kick goal get disallowed for 'dangerous play'. Dubious refs are not just a modern thing.........Think we also had just signed former England player Mark Barham, one of a number of Bonds Man City old boys who came go Shrewsbury for one last pay cheque.
What are your memories of watching Town at Lincoln City?

Cookys double salvo in a second half rout, featuring delectable performances by messrs Pugh, and Drummond.
You can stick your ****ing drum right up yer arse.

Amended the title of the thread to save later duplication.
Always quite like it as an away day despite roads to get there.
Two of us going from Essex. 100% the Paul Hurst affect

My first away game ever travelling on Smithy’s bus. 1994. The first of so many and great friends made.

I missed Saturdays game so might give this a miss too 😂 Big ask after a big effort Saturday. Will happily take a point from this against another side in form at the moment.

I remember standing on the open banking when we Juan 1 - 0. There was a small buff it with Juan
harassed looking lady serving by herself. The queue was about 20 long. Then a bloke marched over. At last, I thought, she's getting some help. But he didn't, he just shouted at her and told her to work faster! If I'd have been her, I would have taken time out to insert a hot dog in an orifice which wasn't his mouth, complete with mustard!

We had a good run of results there, but they seemed to dried up more recently. Remember us getting 4 on first game of season there, lovely day 3of us on train and staying over. Know another couple who are staying over as well. Nice city

Seems Pierre is out, probably for the rest of the season.
Don't suppose Udoh will be back from illness either. At least we haven't had those dreadful conspiracy theories "He's on strike". Personally I think Udoh is the sort of character who would never do such a thing and it's a slight on the man to suggest it. Bowman did a good job anyway.
Bloxham, hope he was brought off early enough to save some energy for Tuesday. Hinchy too, and he was on a yellow when he wisely was pulled off early.
What a team effort it was, maybe the summer recruitment/retention was better than originally thought?

I'll take a point but you never know these days , if we play like we did Saturday it could be all 3 points again 👍
I fancy bowman might keep his place too , sraha in for Pierre , I think we are almost 1-0 up already 🤩
I can only see one winner

That’s bad news about Pierre though. Is the Pierre news speculation or confirmed? I thought Hurst said after the game that Pierre didn’t think it was as bad as when he’d previously done it?

Only been there once, early 2000's, I think it was a bank holiday monday and we scored a last minute winner which resulted in the few hundred in the away end doing the damnbusters. It's mainly memorable for me as the night before I went out, was a bit drunk and went over on my ankle, I foolishly decided to still go to Lincoln the next morning despite being in agony but a few beers numbed the pain. When I arrived back at Shrewsbury station later that day, my leg was now black so I had a trip to A&E
I went back to Lincoln last year for a little break, a lovely city

Went late 80’s when they had John Beck in charge with his anti-football. Basically their tactics were to throw it into the 6 yard box and scramble it in any way they could. Sadly it worked as we lost 1-0.
It was also a boiling day in August, and during a break in play, Micky Brown was near us, asked the ball boy for some water, who declined, a town fan lobbed a water bottle for Micky, and the zealous stewards tried to throw the fan out, which caused a hell of a rumpus with other town fans. Completely unnecessary, and again part of Beck’s tactics. This was the era when he’d put heating on in opponents changing room in summer, and no hot water in winter.

Only Hurst post the Reading match: "He just said he has done it badly before, and it does not feel as bad as that. But I think it was pretty obvious for everyone to see that he did not look comfortable pretty quickly".
"I would imagine that will be a few weeks minimum, I don't have a true update, that is just looking at how he did it and having done an injury in that area before that would be a concern".

First trip to Sincil Bank for few years, generally do well when I have been going to this fixture. It's a long time since going into the current away end - for quite a while it was the uncovered side and then covered years later. Hopefully looking forward to a positive performance.

Gutted that I can’t make this one, although it’s never one of my favourite places to go. Hurst has me believing we can get points from every away game.
Sraha in for Pierre, and the rest picks itself. The only position we really have options is in midfield but I’d definetly go Hinchey and Winchester again.
Predicting a 1-1 where we come from behind to get a valuable point.

I can't recall which game it was but I also went there in the early 90's. It was a cracking day out, lovely weather. Just recall there being just a couple of small fences between the two sets of fans on that side terrace and so it was easy enough to have a chat with the Lincoln fans just across the way. No bother, just having a chat about the game. Pretty sure I recall celebrating a goal but I can't recall the score.

My prediction is Lincoln City 4-0 Shrewsbury Town. I really hope not, I have picked up some work in Lincolnshire today so I can go afterwards... long drive back if you are right, hiping for 0-1 to the Town

I'm hoping Udoh will be back tonight. Sraha for Pierre and Anderson coming in on the bench should be the sum total of changes unless anyone else has caught Udoh's lurgy.
Looking around at the other games tonight; 3 points here would be massive for us. With Blackpool, Vale, Exeter and Carlisle the next 4 games we could be safe by mid-march !

Not making the trip tonight, written cold, but been many times and always enjoy the trip. I may have mentioned before it was always special cos my Dad was born and lived on Sincil Bank before moving to Shrewsbury around 1930.

Vale vs Fleetwood tonight which is massive at the bottom of the table. Anything but a Vale win is ok for us I think.
