Where can you get plain Bounty bars Neil? They seem to have been removed by the Milk Chocolate Police everywhere I look.

The milk chocolate ones are ok, but I miss that red packet. Quick google confirms they have stopped making dark choc bounty, yet you can order bulk packs off the likes of Amazon. Not tried to order but they are there being offered. The dark choc against the coconut is so much better than the milk version. Can you still get Old Jamaica? Not seen it in years but was very nice.

That was my dad's favourite and because he knew we didn't like it he knew he would have the whole bar to himself

I don’t have a sweet tooth which I attribute to my first 7 years being during the post war sugar rationing period. Being half Belgian I do like chocolate and agree with the Belgian opinion that British milk chocolate bears only a passing resemblance to the real thing.
So I choose a minimum 75% cocoa solids chocolate bar, ALDI vegetable crisps and water. I got an aversion to pop after serving a year in the Gulf where alcohol wasn’t allowed and only coke or Fanta was available at work.

I rarely eat chocolate (except a piece of dark chocolate most evenings) but I've been visiting parents in hospital a lot recently and found myself buying chocolate in petrol stations on the way home more often than is good for me.
That's rekindled thinking what my preferences are - incidentally, why do petrol stations not seem to stock plain Galaxy bars?? So ...
My go to was always a Twix or Mars Bar, but I've rediscovered the delight of Cadbury's Fruit n Nut (and, for older readers, - & I guess that's most of you! - hear the voice of Frank Muir every time).
Ready salted crisps are like birdsong - easily taken for granted but always welcome.
The can is difficult - I just don't do them. Pilch is right - Schweppes Lemonade (definitely not Diet or sugar-free anything) is the best, though I hardly ever drink it. If there was nothing else I'd probably go for Lilt but, given the choice, I'll wave my cosmopolitan credentials and go for kombucha, any flavour.

I got an aversion to pop after serving a year in the Gulf where alcohol wasn’t allowed and only coke or Fanta was available at work. My nephew was a tank commander in the gulf war. Beer was allowed in the officers mess, but no spirits. We knew Mark enjoyed a short, so in the Juan shop, I can't remember which Juan, there was minitures of gin, brandy, etc, so we used to smuggle half a dozen bottles wrapped up in a copy of the beano! Mark lettuce know that spirits were strictly forbidden. Then said at the end, "keep them coming!". His little group used to enjoy an evening sipping the contents of the beano. He said his mates could ask quite openly, " do you know when the next Beano is due?.

My son's girlfriend is Belgian and the chocolates she brings from there are far superior to standard British milk chocolate. I'll pass over the abomination that goes by the name of "chocolate" in the US.

Ribena growing up as kid, no wonder my mouth is full of fillings!
Lucozade is another one that I've not drunk in years, always remember it being the staple drink when I was ill/in hospital.
