Very excited, we lost there but only with dunkley sent off after 5, will hopefully be a great game and 2.0 to the town. Marosi Feeney Dunkley Pierre Benning Winchester Bayliss Shipley bloxham Udoh Dont think that is the best team but the likeliest

Wigan are shipping plenty of goals lately
Oxford 4-2 Wigan Wigan 1-2 Exeter Peterbrough 2-3 Wigan Stevenage 3-2 Wigan
11 goals conceded in last four games. In contrast we have conceded 4 in our last four games.

Although we would leapfrog Wigan if we win...it's worth remembering they have been docked 8 points...which means they should really be in 10th.

Wont be an easy game, they have pulled themselves up in last few weeks.
But its games like this that we need to win to stay up.

Nothing to fear. We showed that Tuesday night.
Prepare properly, play with controlled aggression and endeavour and work really hard when we don’t have the ball and we shall be fine.
We should be beating the likes of Wigan

I’d be amazed if we don’t see the same starting XI as vs Barnsley, firstly as they played well, and secondly because it’s already clear Hurst doesn’t rate many of the other players.

Hurst in his pre-match interview talks about the fitness issue from the previous regime. Also talks about getting people to run around and how its best for them as an individual going forward, and his understanding of their current frustration at not getting playing time. www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2024/february/paul-hurst-pre-wigan/

He watches the same game as us. He doesn't shirk reality. I think we've got an older, wiser Hurst who is still thanking his lucky stars he got another punt at League One, let alone with us.

I agree entirely Throbs. Still waiting for us to 'blow a team away'. I recon that will haunt MT for a while 🤣

Perhaps with his experience Hurst understands that little extra level of fitness can prove a leveler at this level when going up against others who can spend a little more (some a fair bit more), that it can close that gap somewhat. I mean whilst I appreciate Hurst's management career is far from glittering having had a look, we're talking about over 700 games managed compared to Taylor's 72. He knows his way around. Anyhow, fingers crossed that even with the half decent start made there is more improvement to be had once the fitness levels improve. He looks to be enjoying it though from what we have seen so far, he looks very much at home. Granted we're still in a fairly precarious position but I like the way he is approaching things. Makes me feel somewhat confident and that all is in hand anyhow. Hopefully the players are picking up on that too.

If you're lacking in other areas, at least be fitter than the opposition.
Fitness it the modern era is everything, games are a minimum of 100 minutes now, if you can outrun and outwork the opposition it can make up for a lack of skill.

I think Hurst is a believer in the marginal gains theory. Increase every aspect by 1% and you're suddenly winning matches.

It's hard to see beyond the usual back 4 Marosi Feeney Dunkley Pierre Benning Winchester Kenneh/Hinchy Bloxham Bayliss Shipley Udoh Can't see Kenneh coming into the team from being out of the squad for the last 3 I think. Hurst has kept the same XI for all matches so far other than Perry starting first 2, as Hinchy wasn't here/only just and then Bloxham missed one due to his ban. Other 9 players have started all 4 games. Unless there is an injury we aren't aware of, I'd assume same XI as Barnsley game

That's why Hurst done so well first time round here(in his full season) we were fitter and faster than the opposition most of the time, and kept going for 90 minutes......me dad is always used to say..." If your not fit,you may as well not bother running out onto the pitch".....and he was right too

I've gone for a Town win, 2-0 but, to be honest, the game could be as ugly as sin as long as we come away with the 3 points.

I think we might see a few changes from Tuesday night as we put in a massive shift plus a few had niggles & Hurst is suggesting we’re not as fit as we should be. We’ll see. Not sure who’d I’d rest mind as feel we have a strong eleven.

Most of us posters spotted the 'fitness issues' early on in the season.....why couldn't Taylor???🤔🤔

Bennett may feature from the start I think, I thought Pierre struggled for the first 20 minutes against Barnsley as well but he finds a way.
I'll go 3-2 - Dunkley, Bayliss and Udoh.
