Open, honest and engaging.Really like this guy not including meetings, I've bumped into him 3 times at the club , once in the club shop, once in smithys and another in the ground and he's even more straight with you then and quite humorous too at times , if ever you need confirmation on past goings on speak to him in person, he will tell you without telling you if you know what I mean.

In the last few months Roland has brought in MM to sign the players, Liam to run the club and PH to lead the team. Good work for an octogenarian.

Been crying out for a young mind on the senior team for years, we finally have that.

He’s clearly got a lot of enthusiasm and ideas which is very refreshing, I hope that cynicism from fans or interference from Roland doesn’t dampen that.

I was merely saying I hope he isn’t thin skinned and doesn’t let inevitable criticism affect him.

But cynicism of roland from the fans ( including this post ) is fine is it ? Free speech Sir, and especially when people's hard earned cash is given to the Club in return for a "product" So yes cynicism of whatever or whoever is okay in my book.

I agree , I just thought that particular post was a bit contradictory , maybe I'm just being a bit cynical 🙄

Quite right, everybody at the club is accountable from the chairman to the cleaners!

This chap could be a huge appointment for the club, i just hope he is afforded the autonomy.
As Martin said, the club has been crying out for some younger blood with ambtion.

I'd offer an off the wall, surmised, idea of what's been going on at the club over the last few years. After all, poster's put up surmised ideas of Udoh and Flanagan being 'on strike', etc.
Roland eased off, semi retired, BC was to do the hard work.
BC would never have Hursty back, so that was out during his tenure.
BC seemed to sink a bit post Covid, or at least around that time.
For reasons that probably will never be publicised, Roland realised he had to step back in, more hands on.
Now Roland was free to bring in this fresh Director of football idea, bring in Liam and, when the opportunity came up, Hurst.
In other words, in my opinion only and sad to say, it was BC that was the one holding us back.

He did get me my toilet seats though! But only 'bog standard' ones
Wasn't that in his early years when he seemed to be right on the ball? He also used to turn up on Radio Shropshire as a summeriser occasionally which was good.

In other words, in my opinion only and sad to say, it was BC that was the one holding us back. Things changed when RW appointed SC who immediately undermined BCs authority by being allowed a free hand on changing the kit and doing the transferee negotiations without them being checked by the club. We ended up with close to £1million loss on the Umbro deal, and £800k overspend on incidentals and contracts we’re struggling to afford. BCs attitude was I let him get on with it because RW was backing SCs changes. Personally thought upto SC arriving BC was doing a good job and worked well with the fans through the SP and SLOs.

Please refrain from being positive in your future posts. It's with a heavy heart I criticise BC, he used to be a big asset, but he did seem to not be so proactive even before the SC appointment. I don't think he's walked into another job either. In his heyday he was tipped for being headhunted, in his heyday he might well have stood up to Roland wanting SC, the Umbro deal etc. even if it meant resigning - because he would have easily got another job in those days.

Similar thoughts to me, it the rumours are true then he should have either walked or tried to stand up to Roland/Cotterill and forced Roland to act. Instead it sounds like he had a sulk and became distant which helped no one. Let's not forget that much of what is being said here regarding Liam is what we heard when Brian first arrived (and the same with Matt Williams). I criticise Roland a lot but must admit he's got a good eye for a CEO

Talks are ongoing to obtain investment and possible buyers. Another way of saying nothing has changed but yes, his hands are tied as to what he can say, but he is a very likeable guy.

So nothing really important to report on the investment front.
Up next, the Dof's update.

I did hear the chairman yet again had to put his hand in his pocket last month and dig deep I see Woking still cant sell and is heading for admin, asking price is £1. (one pound) the owner has just put in 600K just so they can kick the season off, he's invested £3.5M in the last 3 years but wants out asap and cant sell ( or even give it away )

It’s reassuring the CEO seems to have a good handle on all that’s going on at the club, and is also bringing in updates from the Women’s Team and the community foundation as well. They are all parts of the overall benefit that comes to the Town from having a football league club in the Town.
I think from what’s we’ve seen so far the elements he has direct control over seem to be progressing well, but it’s the wider issues that remain the big concern
As someone who has to write corporate press releases it’s also the careful use of words and the unsaid bits of the statement that are of most interest. Still a lot of uncertainty there around the finances and it seems - to my interpretation at least that the board are still putting their own money into the club to balance the budget
“But, in the meantime, I have to say thank you to the Chairman and Duncan Montgomery for their ongoing financial support at this time for our football club.”
Certainly some small wins to get behind but the longer term financially issues seem no closer to being solved

I just want some honesty in terms of the club finances.
Are we still losing large amounts of money despite cutting back on everything and the biggest ever number of season ticket holders?
