I lived in Colchester at that time and could not get to many Salop games but I had a season ticket to London for work so I went with a mate to see Notts County lose to Arsenal 2-0 at Highbury. The announcement of the Salop score at the end sparked one of the biggest cheers of the day. Got back to see MOTD and particularly remember the shot of the numerous Man City coaching staff crammed like sardines into the tiny away dugout.

What a kit!! ๐
Certainly no problem identifying who the team in blue and amber were (unlike todayโs offering)
And what a ground ๐๐

What a day that was to be a Town supporter, great memories. On the riverside, just next to the TV gantry, just like it was yesterday

Drove up from Chatham on the morning of the game and drove back straight afterwards. What a magical memory

I was there also. The near post header serving us well.

Never forget the late Malcolm Allison walking in front of the Riverside in his fedora, getting a load of stick, but smiling through it.

Remember that game well, the Shropshire County League gave us permission to cancel our game so that we could attend the game, whist telling us it was a โone offโ. Six weeks later they had to cave in and grant another one off, so that we could joins the other 12k Town fans on the South Bank at Molineux for Round 6. That was, I am told, the last time Wolves had a crowd of over 40k for a Home match.

Like some others on here, I too feel ancient, but it's our memories which make us who we are today, and our judgements reflect those memories.
And those are GREAT ones....definitely "I was there" ones....

One of the best days of my life with a bitter after taste....got slashed with a Stanley knife by an idiot on greyfriars who wanted my scarf more than me

My wife and I where still living up on the Wirral at the time.I had only ever been to Shrewsbury once and that had been to watch Tranmere in a night match at The Gay Meadow Watched the highlights on MOTD and at half time they turned the camera on the Riverside roof around to focus on the river, English Bridge and the Wyle Cop. Said to the wife "what a beautiful town". Three years later we moved here ๐๐๐๐

Thanks for sight of that - remember it well!! It was the day after my 21st birthday celebrations - standing on a packed riverside with a very sore head!! Celebrations from me were very muted unfortunately!!

Back in the day when the bbc chose which 2nd half commentary to go with at half time based on how the shortlisted games were poised

I was there too! For some reason I recall a blow-up doll being juggled around on the Riverside terrace. Have I imagined this?

I was still playing Saturdays back then, in a league based in south Manchester, and heard the result on Sports Report in the dressing room after the game.
My team mates were United supporters, so we were all happy!

When the match started I thought bloody hell, weโre going to get stuffed here. We weathered the first few minutes and did well obviously. Big Mal moaned after the game, it shouldnโt have been played , the ground too frozen and such like . A great occasion but not for some City fans who managed to get through the large wooden doors below the stands. The doors were quickly shout to prevent more getting through leaving those already in marooned . It wasnโt nice what happened next to them, they got a right thrashing before the Police reluctantly saved them . The game is one of my great memories supporting the Town along with our game with Wolves away in the Cup. The replay not so good however .
Iโm sure there will be many more to come if I can just live long enough ๐๐๐

Remember the great Colin Bell was in their team, though way past his best by then.

Watched it from the old RSI car park. I got a good view of around three quarters of the pitch. Happy days
