So I would say that OVERALL the atmosphere is probably better now as South stand does a great job and the wakeman was always deathly silent on whole. Actually agree with this. I preferred the Gay Meadow and would be back there in a shot if I could but there's a myth created about the atmosphere. For the odd big game it could be good but for large parts the atmosphere consisted of a small group in the centre of the Riverside and once B&A was created that group was moaned at online for some of the songs sung. When the 'new' ground is quiet its deathly quiet but you have noise from both West & Stands on a fairly regular basis, that rarely happened at the old ground. The was one time B&A sponsored a match so 30 or so we're in the sponsors area of the Wakeman stand. Chants going back and to with the Riverside made a great atmosphere. Shame it only happened once.

Totally off topic - apologies but I love hearing Hey Jude. It takes me right back to that night at Milton Keynes every time and that atmosphere and excitement.

Shrewsbury Town vs Colchester, 31st December, 1977. The Riverside started singing the chorus, it went on for about 15 minutes and every time it started to die off another section would start it up again, our group (there was about 10 of us) kept it going at one point, I think we were also well fueled with the Christmas spirit too, helped by a top up from a hip flask or two so we were in fine voice... I've never heard it sung for so long to this day. It really sticks in my memory and we won 1-0, Sammy Irvine the scorer. Isn't it great what you can remember!

If you go on to Youtube Music and select Shrewsbury Town Songs (vid gaboo24) you will hear a very old song by a band extolling the team winning the 'first division' and 'taking the Welsh Cup with them'. Don't know who made it, or when, but it's an interesting listen. I’ve got this on 7 inch vinyl! 😂

Here's one for all the old stagers who used to stand on the station end back in the day:
If I had the wings of a sparrow
If I had the nerve of a crow
I'd fligh over Walsall tomorrow and.... 🤣🤣

Just remembered another literary classic
With Neil Lyne At number 9 With Neil lyne at number 9 We're going to win the third division With Neil lyne at number 9
Except we got relegated instead.
No one sings the no limit Trevor challis song anymore either....
Also just had a flashback to the buffet in the 90s when that scriv (written on his shirt) bloke would always try to sing ' we are wem' before getting dogs abuse
Whatever happened to that green jeans bloke who used to start nearly every song too, is he on here?

Those dozen lads at Bournemouth away under Turner who were bashing poppers and serenading Darren Jones to Joy Division:
“Jones…Jones is looser than me. Again”
Flurry of goals in the first 15 minutes and then nothing.

“From the banks of the river Severn, to the shores of Sicily, we’ll fight fight fight for Shrewsbury, ‘til we win Division 3. To hell with Walsall, to hell with Torquay, we’ll fight fight fight for Shrewsbury ‘til we win Division 3”.
Can tell how old that one is, as we’ve not had a Division 3 for decades.

I would have thought that “All we are saying, is give us a goal” would have made a comeback this season. To the tune of Give Peace a Chance.

The meadow was pretty deathly at times that’s true, but it was a ground of extremes, and I don’t think any of the best twenty home atmospheres I’ve experienced have been at the new ground.
Strange to think that future generations will never find themselves 15 yards from their starting spot after a goal

Totally off topic - apologies but I love hearing Hey Jude. It takes me right back to that night at Milton Keynes every time and that atmosphere and excitement. Oh absolutely. Probably my best ever away game following the Shrews. About as good as Bristol Rovers away in 96, but MK was better due to the Hey Jude half time. The build up from there on into the second half was just magic.
