Steve Biggins from Hednesford..Gary Hackett from Bromsgrove and Paul Tester from Cheltenham (then a lowly non-league club) Peterborough still seem to find these sort of players! And don't forget Colin Robinson. And it is that exact sub-thread which makes those of us of a certain age so bloody angry; yes, I know that tge game has changed enormously, but, as alluded to above, Peterborough, for example, can still do it!

I guess it's like a lot of "stuff" these days, people expect it to be plonked on a plate in front of them without doing any donkey work to get "it"

I was referring to it in a football context from when I first watched Town in 1971 to current predicament.

I really do admire both your grasp and familarity with statistics, but as you are doubtless aware, statistics alone never tell the whole story; in any event it wasn't me who brought Peterborough into the matter - I merely commented upon an earlier contribution. This thread is about STFC's previous scouting effectiveness, not about anyone else's; in that area alone we have not remained static - we have gone into rapid reverse. I have no wish to prolong this yet further difference of perspective between us.

I wish we had a DOF such as Barry Fry. I would venture to suggest that he is many times superior to Micky Moore but there again Fry is reputed to earn £300k + per annum. Personally I have always been envious of their ambition. And again things have moved on:- www.theposh.com/news/official-club-statement-3

why do we only ever compare to them after we lose ? did we compare to them back in 17/18 ? Demographically, the Posh should be above us. With around 2.5x times the population and an average home gate this season of 8200.

With around 2.5x times the population and an average home gate this season of 8200. And 8000+ the season before And 10k+ before that and yet our tiny little model managed 88 points a few season ago , would have been enough for automatic in any of pboros league 1 promotion years And we'd be in a far better place now had we gone up too so let's not cry about it Someone asked about the pboro model tonight , he got nothing but frowns and confused looks , he tried telling us there are lots of gems out there in the non league
